Anime Review:: Toriyama's World: Naruto

     Naruto is one of the few Anime's that fulfills its role as an action/comedy/adventure story. Though, it is not commercially licensed in the U.S. right now, people have been proclaiming its praise. Do to the graphic nature of most of the fight scene's (i.e. there's a lot of blood) this Anime is rated 16 and up…or will be when it hits the U.S. Airwaves.
     Naruto is a compelling story of three (though, there are other character's that it focuses on) Ninja students who aspire to be the best in their village. The story line is pretty simple to follow, being that it's all about the conflict and struggle that it takes them to become better Ninja's. Though, as the story line progresses, it gets more interesting.
     Uzumaki Naruto, the main character in which the Anime is based on, is your classic orphaned trouble maker. In the opening scene of the first episode, you see him running through the village of Konoha with a few paint buckets and there are people chasing after him. Anyway, when it comes time for graduation from the Ninja academy, he almost doesn't because his chakra techniques are on the lower levels. His biggest dream is to become Konoha's fifth Hokage and he dares any and all to squash that dream.
     Uchiha Sasuke, the second main character, is the last surviving member of his clan. The main reason that he became a Ninja was to exact vengeance on the person who killed off everyone in his own clan. He's not really big on talking all that much, unless he sees fit to put in some information.
     Sakura, the leading female, is completely in love with Sasuke. Only, it's a one sided love thing. Her biggest dream is to become the best female Ninja that Konoha has ever seen, though, she does lack some skills in the way of combat. Her biggest asset is the fact that she has excellent chakra control, and not only that, great problem solving abilities. You don't see her fight too much, but when it comes to defending her friends, she's ready and willing to fight to the death.
     Kakashi, or better know as Copy Cat Kakashi, is the three Genin students Jounin teacher. He is often late to their meetings, reading some kind of perverted book, and seems to lack the attention span that it would take to be teaching anything of any kind. But don't be doubtful of his slacker-ish appearance. He is one powerful Jounin and has high standards for those that he takes under his tutelage. That's why in the first few episodes, Sasuke, Naruto and Sakura almost didn't make it beyond graduation.
     The Anime that is Naruto should be given full props on animation sequences, storyline interest as well as graphics editing. This Anime has a simplistic (yet innovative) story line with twists, turns and other complexities with each and every new episode. This is one to definitely watch, and to buy when it comes out in the U.S. or where ever you're from. Definitely a two thumbs up!!
