I'm not sure there is anything we can do. Seems to be a personal choice of some kind that doesn't involve anyone else. Also seems to be an indepenant spirit crying out for help, but using a Plank-like method to express the need. I'm not a psychiatrist, psychologist, counsellor, and haven't known these members long enough to be friend or acquaintance. Their chosen way is their chosen way. Expressed as they wish.
