The seeds were planted
and with every new sprout

ribbons of root and soil

Weeds
thriving, intertwining with
and draining the life
from me
until I'm left with only
I didn't know any better

I never had a chance

Follies indeed, for once the nurturing is done, do not the grown seeds become responsible for their actions, without the lament that somehow, someone/something else was actually responsible?
