Melony hesitated as she went into the leaky cauldron on her way into diagon alley

"Tira!! Get up; we're going to be LATE!!"

Tira unwillingly cracked one eye open against the oppresing glare of the sun from her bedroom window, which was unfortunately situated right in her line of sight.

"COMING!!" she yelled, rubbing her eyes as she got up and out of bed. Her grey eyes scanned her room quickly -- everything was packed, thanks to the family house-elf, Birra. Her owl, Namina, was resting comfortably in her cage with her head tucked under her wing.

Tira skipped down her stairs and saw her mother, father, and third-year brother, Oliver, standing in the kitchen impatiently.

"Let's go, squirt..." Oliver said, ruffling her hair. She stuck her tongue out at him as the family piled into the car.

Yeah I know it sucks... time lapses are weird but it's my first post and I'm kinda tired ^_^

Melony sighed and stepped out the back entrance to the alleyway. she took out a piece of paper her mother had given her and also removed her 12 inch oak with a phoenix feather in it out to tap the bricks in the right way. Left, up.right. top down,and the wall opened for her. *where to go first?* she remembered..."right gringotts it is.."

((I know, but I've been getting up really early lately... btw, the car mentioned in my last post is one that they family uses to blend in. Just for clarification.))

The car ride to platform 9 and 3/4 was short, but memorably. Tira asked her brother question after question about life at hogwarts, and she heard at least three stories from her mother and father both.

"What house do you think I'll be in?" she had mused once, surprised by her family's reply of "Slytherin" in unison. She raised both of her eyebrows but said nothing.

Melony breathlessly made her way back to the inn. Her parents were to meet her there. she already knew even from the first visit to diagon alley that she would not fit in at hogwarts just because she was muggle born.

"There you are!" her mother waved. Melony sighed.."Let's just get going the train will be arriving soon. do you have my ticket?" she asked her eyes not showing any worry if she didn't have them. The red ticket was waved in front of her face.

"Bu ti get to have my pictures first" he mother grinned..."momm!!!" Melony sighed embarrassed beyond all reason. She got into their care and they made their way to the station

Tira waved goodbye to her family as she and Oliver cimbed onto the train. She was surprised when he waved his friends away and chose to stick with her as she searched for an empty compartment.

"Why aren't you going over with Rick and Hayden?" she asked curiously.

"I'm just going to make sure no one messes with my little sister on her first day of school," he answered nonchalantly. She raised an eyebrow skeptically.

"Look, it's something of a tradition for first-years to get picked on on their first train ride. I'm just going to watch out for you, is all," he replied.

Tira wasn't quite sure what to say but was saved the effort of having to respond at all when she spied an empty compartment.

"Ha!" she said as she gleefully spread out on the seat. Oliver rolled his eyes and sat on the opposite side, stretching his legs.

Melony entered the platform and the second whistle blew.."come on mum i don't have tie for any stupid pictures!" she groaned as the flash went off...*man if being a first year wasn't enough now i have to be humiliated in front of everyone else too..* her face went red.

"By by darling! don't forget to write lots of postcards!" her mum waved frantically. She moved to the back of the train. Spotting an empty compartment she went in, only two realize that it was already taken by an older boy with reddish hair and a girl about her age.

((Oliver is blonde. I'm not even going to try to pretend that he isn't Oliver Queen XD))

"Oh... hi! Are you a first year?" Tira asked excitedly as she spied the shy-looking, slightly red-faced girl peeking into their compartment. Oliver looked over at her, decided she wasn't a threat, and waited for her reply.

Melony smiled shyly and nodded. "yeah...are you?...can i?...everywhere else is full..." she sighed her bags now threatening to ripp her arms off if she didnt put them down somewhere soon.

Tira nodded enthusiastically and rushed to help her put her bags up on the top rack of the compartment, blowing angrily into her hair that had fallen into her face (it was short, but annoying...) when she realized she wasn't quite tall enough. Oliver watched with amusement before pushing the bag up and sat back down, facing his sister and what looked like her first magical friend.

"So, what's your name? I'm Oliver, and this is my sister Tira. I'm a Slytherin," he said.

Melony looked at him. *a slytherin huh?...* "My name is Melony....i am hoping to be in Griffindorr..." she stated softly not quiet knowing if this was a good thing to say or not

[Lady Vamp]

Tira bunched up her face like she did when she was confused.

"A Gryffindor? Why? They're boring," she replied curiously.

"Tira!" Oliver said sharply.

"What?" she asked innocently. Oliver's reprimand died on his tongue. How could you yell at a face like that?

"Gryffindor's aren't boring just because they aren't Slytherins," he instructed.

.."yeah...the Great Harry Potter was a griffindorr wasnt he?" melony asked getting slightly excitied...For her Harry Potter was one of her biggest role models only second to hermione granger.

[Lady Vamp]

"Yeah, but that was ages ago... Aren't his kids at the school now?" Tira asked her brother expectantly.

"Yeah, his kids are all fifth- and sixth- years though. I don't really know them," Oliver admitted.

"Well, I want to know them," Tira said proudly.

"Of course you do," Oliver replied, rolling his eyes.

..."i know their names..." Melony stated."they are James and the other one is.....oh darn ive forgotten them" she sighed

[Lady Vamp]

"James, Lily, and Albus," Oliver reminded her. "Ron and Hermione Weasley's kids, Hugo and Rose, are in the school as well."

"What about that kid you were telling me about, Ollie? The one that can change his hair?" Tira asked curiously.

"That would be Teddy Lupin. He's a metamorph, like his mom. And you'd better not say anything mean to him," Oliver warned. Tira nodded solemnly.

Melony looked sadly at the two siblings. * i wish i had a sister or a brother....for slytherins they dont seem too bad* she contemplated

"s...oliver...why did the hat pu tyou in slytherin?" she asked him
