I've seen a lot of CG in anime, but usually it's not too noticeable, mostly just backgrounds and stuff. But Last Exile has so much CG that I feel like I'm watching a video game instead of anime. Although it's very well done, I think it detracts from the show.
I've done CG before, and I doubt I could do it as well as the artists who make a living at it. But one of the things I look at when I watch anime is the artwork, and the CG just gets kinda distracting when it's the main object in the screen.
Is CG really anime? Does this bother anyone else? Maybe I'm being too picky and purist.

Im neutral in this respect,I rather like cg in anime most of the time. Depending on how its used it makes everything feel almost real and allows a greater degree of detail then simple lines and color alone can pull off.

Well, personally I prefer no CG over CG. The whole point of anime is to be watching japanese animation, not japanese computer graphics. O_o

My biggest gripe is when CG is ridiculously obvious and used because the animators were too lazy to draw something... kinda like Dragon Drive; I never understood why some of the dragons were CG but others were hand-drawn. Personally, the hand-drawn ones looked better and (ironically) moved better.. lol.

I wonder how many anime there are that don't actually use CG? I know Outlaw Star doesn't. Yay. :3

I really don't like CG in my anime, to be honest. I find it to be a big eyesore, as it's noticeably different from the art.

GC is nice, but it's not anime, s'what I think any way. I don't notice things off hand, specially obvious things ha ha, but I do feel that anime is far superior when hand drawn, like it's supposed to be and started out as.

Yah that's probably the thing that bothers me the most - that it doesn't blend in at all. And I think that it's used mostly as a timesaver, so it's not like they're going to go back and draw over the CG. If it's used as a background it doesn't stand out that much, but when the characters have to interact with something that doesn't match the art, it's rather jarring.

I know when they re-did Oh! My Goddess the cg is very noticeable, but not bad. The animation and story line is much better and interesting than the original There is some anime that cg is a bit extreme, because anime to me is art and I love how it looks. CG is ok, but not over the top. Outlaw Star is definitely amazing art :D

Well even though its been stated by nearly everyone else, I'm gonna have to say that I prefer CG in small increments. I love how NGE looks and how beautiful the characters and scenery is drawn, plus the battles are drawn and done so well. I'm happy they didn't use any CG.

Honestly the only partial CG anime that keeps coming to mind right now is Ghost In The Shell. Honestly the interactions btw the robots can get a little annoying at times, though I do think the movies were awesome.

Speaking of CG did anyone watch the first or second Apple Seed? Its completely CG and I was wonder what the official opinion on that was. ^_^
