I figured I should start one of these threads too. Feel free ask me any questions, personal or just anything that is on your mind :)

When is the last time you baked cookies?

Hara Michiyo
03-22-2009, 11:01 PM
I haven't baked cookies since I worked for a cafe in the local swimming pool. I used to scoop the mix onto trays and put them in the oven. Sometimes I would get bored and fill the whole tray with mix and make giant cookies, or put the mix into random shapes. It was fun, and I could eat any cookies they wouldn't sell. It was great.

If you were lost in the woods, could you kill and eat an animal?

Hara Michiyo
04-01-2009, 08:05 PM
That is a question I have actually often asked myself. I don't think I could answer it until I was actually in the situation because I'm one of those people who don't even like killing spiders, especially if it is uneccessary, but I'm not one of those people that are like killing animals for food is cruel, because we get essential nutrients from animals...and it does taste good :)

When are you going to make Mac some haggis? And what else would you serve with it?

silence
04-12-2009, 05:52 PM
Do you have a favorite anime?

Hara Michiyo
04-12-2009, 07:45 PM
@ Brian
Hm, I don't think I can ever make some haggis for mac because he lives so far away from me, about a 7 hour drive (without bad traffic). If I'm ever planning to go past his house I may drop by with some haggis :) I would serve it with mashed potato with a side of mashed carrot and turnip, or neeps the Scots call it. Altogether it's called haggis, neeps, and tatties.

@silence
I would probably have to go with the Oh! Ah! my Goddess. I've watched all the old episodes but they remade it and I prefer the new version. I've also watched the Mini Goddess Adventures. I do love that anime... I do like Fruits Basket, NGE (but it's too sad an anime to watch too much), Excel Saga, Pretear (but no the English dubbed version), and I've just finished watching every single episode of Full Metal Alchemist. Love Hina is ok too.

silence
04-12-2009, 08:49 PM
I've seen all of FullMetal Alchemist. It's wonderful! I like it alot.

7 hours isn't too far, I guess. Have you ever met Mak-mac in person??

Hara Michiyo
04-12-2009, 09:40 PM
No, but I've known him a good few years. I know what he looks like but I wouldn't mind if we ever did meet in person. I'd be happy to meet people off the ACF.

*GASP* I'm going to Visit him again this January!!! maybe if I save up enough maybe me, him and Erk can come see you. They keep saying they haven't been much farther then Scun thorpe. I wanted to take them some where to see something cool and exciting... but we haven't thought any where yet.

Where do you live? In England somewhere... if I remember correctly I think you said you were... in Scotland I think?? I'm lost. : (

(ha ha ha it *'d out scun thorpe)

hypotethically speaking: if a plane just happened to crash right on the border between D.C., Maryland, and Virginia where would you bury the survivors?

Takai
04-13-2009, 09:34 AM
have you ever drank coconut milk right out of the coconut?

Hara Michiyo
04-13-2009, 08:07 PM
@ Silence

I live in Inverness, Scotland (and yes the Scun Thorpe thing is funny). It's the capital of the Highlands of Scotland. My boyfriends lives not too far away from mac (during term time as he is in college but not going back now until next year due to an operation) so maybe if I visit him one day I might stop by mac, you never know.

@GG
:P you wouldn't bury survivors you silly.

@ Takai
I have actually. Tasty. I opened up the coconut because I had just watched Monty Python and the Holy Grail (anyone who has seen that movie will know what I mean).

Brian
04-14-2009, 12:02 AM
Do you have any good luck charms?

Hara Michiyo
04-14-2009, 10:30 AM
Hm, I don't think I have actually. There isn't an object I have that I associate with being lucky.

silence
04-15-2009, 01:32 AM
I've seen Monty Python and the holy grail it's SO funny... I just don't remember... oh wait
you mean the coconuts that they used to make horse hooves noise and that the swollows carried?? ha ha

The Guiltiest Gear
04-15-2009, 03:01 AM
How did you know the trick to that question? >.>

Hara Michiyo
04-20-2009, 08:16 PM
@ Silence
Yeah, because they couldn't afford to have real horses for the movie they had to improvise. It is hilarious.

@ GG
I've seen that question before somewhere. It was a while ago. I looked at it at first and thought, I've seen this before, but it did take a while for the lightbulb in my head to light up and make me realise it was about the survivors.

Actually, no, it's because I'm uber intelligent and nothing surpasses me. Muwahahaha o_O

If you found a baby fox next to your house, would you keep it?

Hara Michiyo
04-23-2009, 01:02 AM
No, I wouldn't. My step Mum works for the SSPCA so I would just phone her up and let her know. As soon as I touch the baby fox the mother may reject it as it didn't smell the same. I wouldn't want that to happen.

Brian
05-01-2009, 03:56 AM
Do you like sashimi?

Hara Michiyo
05-03-2009, 09:30 AM
Tbh, I haven't tried it. Unless I make it myself it's not something anyone has heard of here, let alone eaten it. So, it's not like I can go order it somewhere. There is no Japanese restauraunts for miles, and if there is they only sell sushi.

silence
05-05-2009, 03:48 AM
did you get a new siggy?

where's the farthest you've been?

Hara Michiyo
05-05-2009, 09:14 AM
This is actually an old one I found in my Photobucket account. I made it about 2 or 3 years ago, so I've used it on here already.

The farthest I've been has to be Canada. I went to Toronto and had a tour of Ontario by going to Ottowa, Niagara Falls, and Quebec. It was 12 years ago though. I haven't been further than Europe since.

Brian
05-06-2009, 03:31 AM
Are there any archeological sites near your house? Have you ever found anything that was really old?

Hara Michiyo
05-06-2009, 06:48 PM
I live right beside Culloden Battlefield, where The Battle of Culloden took place in 1746. I found a bullet there once that was used back then. Apparently the place is covered in them. It's a favourite place to visit for school children as most people in the UK study it as part of their History school lessons.

About 40 mins from my house is the beaches on the black Isle where you commonly find fossils. The most popular place is a small area called Eathie. For some reason they all appear on this area of coastline, and some of them are millions of years old.

Brian
05-11-2009, 03:37 AM
Have you ever seen a meteor shower?

Hara Michiyo
05-11-2009, 08:51 PM
I've seen a couple. I have a list of what times of year the seperate showers are but never look at it. I'm never up that late to see them. When I was in the Scouts I went camping a lot and I stuck my head out of the tent one night and I seen one shooting star. For some reason I really remember it.

I see the northern lights more than the meteor showers. I haven't actually seen any for a while though...

Brian
05-17-2009, 04:28 PM
Which would you rather live in, an ancient gothic church or a Japanese-style temple?

Hara Michiyo
05-17-2009, 04:42 PM
Japanese-style temple ftw! I'm not really into anything gothic...

silence
05-19-2009, 04:52 AM
so you made that Siggy?

How long have you been drawing??

(and so awesomely if I may add ^____^ that gun is amazing)

Hara Michiyo
05-19-2009, 09:09 PM
Yeah, it's just a quick-ish pencil drawing I did. I have a Higher Qualification in Graphic Communication so I'm good with angles and perspectives, but I did amaze myself at getting the gun in the right place and pointing in a cool way. Lol.

Some of my fondest memories of my childhood were creating paintings (be it most of them were just black paint and most of it managed to get on the ceiling because if splattering the paint) but I didn't really realise I could draw well until late primary school, early secondary school (Ages 10-12). In primary school I had a scheme where we could buy books every so often and my Mum got me a ring binder folder that you collected inserts for over time, and one insert I got later on was on how to draw Daffy Duck and his nephews. I realised by looking at images with a definite outline I could copy them onto paper really well. You will notice with the majority of my drawings it's anime characters from my Mangas and I've drawn them up into A3 size and shaded them in.

My Mum is also an incredible artist but she has always told me I would never make a career out of it and I had to focus on work/studies instead, so I've not drawn as much. I suppose I'm worried of losing my ability just because I'm working all the time now instead and I have no time for anything.

There is a thread in the ACF somewhere where some of my drawings are kept. They were done when I was about 17, 18 years old.

Have you ever done a manga-style self-portrait?

Hara Michiyo
05-24-2009, 08:15 PM
Well, technically, yes. In my art thread there is a cartoon strip that is me and my boyfriend when we used to go to college (ot's how we met). We were in one class together and I really didn't get along with my teacher, so that was the inspiration. I ended up getting thrown out of the class because I had a massive argument with her....long story...

Brian

Is the "Question A Day" thread turning out the way you envisioned it?

silence

*dies* oh my gosh!!!! you seriously rock!!!!

I so wish I could colour, too.

uh....I forgot my question now ha ha sorry uh...

you heard of meat loaf?? the singer...
not my orginal question but it's all I can think of ha ha

Hara Michiyo
05-25-2009, 08:54 PM
@ Brian: I kinda forgot about it. During the day I would always think of these amazing philosophical style questions, but could never remember them long enough to write them down. I was hoping that by making the thread I would remember some of them, but didn't happen. My head is quite cluttered at the moment, I'm in the process of trying to sort it all out but it may take some time.

@silence: You're as bad as me for forgetting. Lol. I've heard of Meat Loaf, my Mum liked him when I was a child so it was one of many artists I grew up listening to. I also once walked out my front door and seen this:
http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y61/Hara_michiyo/DSC00784.jpg
Not the real Meat Loaf, it was a tribute band. I live on a farm, which is an outdoor centre, and they have a big hall which they hold mini concerts and ceilidhs in so he must've been visiting to do a show.

Brian
05-25-2009, 10:53 PM
How about the Rocky Horror Picture Show, have you seen that? (I may have already asked that...)

Hara Michiyo
05-26-2009, 08:42 PM
Don't know, lol.

I've seen most of the film. Tim Curry in drag? My kinda movie, lol.
It's ok film. I have the timewarp song on my iPod for some reason too.

who was the last person you felt like drop kicking?

why?

Hara Michiyo
05-27-2009, 07:38 PM
A member of my staff at work. She is very, very hard to work with. Inconsiderate, lazy, and argumental.

She handed in her notice so she is leaving, which quite a few people are happy about, but because I'm in charge and she is leaving I have to deal with her. Our jobs are to sell make up to people, but she spends her time either sitting down, off the shop floor, or talking to her friends, boyfriend, or brother that comes into store. And because she is leaving she is giving me attitude to the max because she just doesn't care anymore. I don't really ever feel like drop kicking anyone, but if she carries on she is going to get one.......

....but I can't, being the boss I have to be professional unfortunately....

Have you ever let your fingernails grow really long? What's the longest you've let your hair grow?

Hara Michiyo
05-29-2009, 09:17 PM
I get annoyed if I leave my fingernails grow long. They break and get in the way. I was given red nail extensions for my birthday (my friend owns a salon) but I removed them after 2 unbearable weeks.

My hair at the moment goes all the way down my back at the moment. I need a couple of inches cut off every so often to keep it neat for work, but if I didn't it would probably be longer.

Brian
08-27-2009, 12:15 AM
which would you rather have, the ability to fly or the ability to turn invisible?

Shamanicgirl09
09-30-2009, 01:35 PM
What is your favorite topic of conversation? ^_^

Hara Michiyo
10-05-2009, 11:36 PM
@ Brian: Fly, definitely, it's that free feeling but people can also still see me so they can talk to me. I'm not into the invisible thing, I respect people's privacy too much to actually look in on them, or even steal anything. And what use is money and stuff if you're invisble anyway?

@ Erin: Hm, anything upbeat and interesting I suppose. I can talk fine on here, sort of, but when I'm faced with an actual person I'm not very good at conversation. Mainly because I have no people at work who share the same interests as me. It's kinda hard to go everyday trying to get along with people whose only interests are boys, Big Brother, alcohol, and general moaning about other people. I can't deal with negative people either. People with problems, that's a different thing, that's not negative.

To make a really long story short, I'm more of a listener. It's very hard for me to open up to anyone. And if I do then I must have some trust in that person.

I'm just having a little epiphany here about something....hm...

Brian
10-06-2009, 03:03 AM
What's the highest thing you've jumped or fallen from?

Hara Michiyo
10-06-2009, 05:42 PM
I would have to say fallen from, because I would never jump down a height on purpose. I don't mind heights at all, it's just not good for my joints.

One day I went cycling and stopped for a rest (this was about 6-7 years ago) and decided to climb the tree with my friend. I got to about 3-4 metres high when the branch snapped and I fell head first to the ground. The only thing that saved me was the fact I was wearing a cycling helmet as I couldn't be bothered taking it off to climb the tree. It was still very sore, but I was told the fall would've broken my neck or more than likely fractured my skull as there was big hard tree roots coming out of the ground that I landed on.

Are there any legends of ghosts or hauntings near where you live?

Hara Michiyo
10-10-2009, 02:12 AM
If there was I don't really know of anything. I've not heard anything so I'm going to assume no. My friend I work with lives in an old house and she says she has a ghost called Mary and completely acts like it's normal. Her friend was at her house and apprently a CD came out of the CD tower thing and flying at him. And she was like 'yeah, just ignore that, that's just Mary sayiing hello'.

Are you afraid of sharks?

Are you still studying Gaelic? I think that was one of your passions.

Is there anything I shouldn't know about you? LOL

Hara Michiyo
11-01-2009, 09:15 PM
I'm not afraid of sharks, I'm afraid of getting mauled though. Not a fan of losing a limb.

My granny spoke Gaelic as it was her native language. In school I had a choice of doing German and Gaelic, or German and French. I wanted Gaelic and French, but, oh well. I did Gaelic for years because of my strong Scottish routes and the fact my Granny spoke it. I found it easy and it's my highest graded qualification I have. I tried learning more but my gran got really sick and died before I could speak it properly to her so I think because she's gone now so has my link to Gaelic and other things that happened in my life I've kinda lost touch with it. I keep thinking I've forgotten all my Gaelic but when I hear people speaking it I understand what they are saying, and it does help when reading and translating road signs for my family. My other granny, on my Mum's side, wants me to learn more Gaelic, butshe wants it more for her work and helping her translate Gaelic gravestones than an emotional connection. Maybe someday I'll get back to it, when it's too late and the language has completely died out. I also think that because someone in my class at school was fluent Gaelic and went on to do BBC Alba and other Gaelic television I always thought to myself there was no point in learning more as I would never be as good as him, but that was my very low self esteem that I dragged round with me all through school.

Long answers, but, when you live by yourself and your best friend/partner is thousands of miles away you're going to talk a lot! It also made me think and realise what my issues are with the Gaelic subject.

And, something you shouldn't know about me? Well,...that would be telling ;)

Brian

Do you have a CD player? If so, what's the first disc in it?

Hara Michiyo
11-18-2009, 12:12 AM
I do have a CD player, 2 actually. One hi-fi type thing in the house and one in the car. I never use the one in the house, I kept it for when I had friends over and wanted music (even though I never had friends over, and if I did my CDs are either so out of date or not to the liking of others that I wouldn't use it anyway). The only CDs I've had in the car the past year is the 'Learn Japanese' CD and AK's Red Hot Chili Pepper Greatest Hits album, which I do like, but I have a Koda Kumi album (Black Cherry) that I love so that's one of the first I would reach for, then maybe my Blackeyed Peas and then some System of a Down maybe...

Brian
11-18-2009, 12:38 AM
If you were the Snow Queen, how would you treat your subjects?

Hara Michiyo
11-20-2009, 08:26 PM
Well, I wouldn't be like the one from Narnia anyway.

I would treat everyone with respect and I would be wise, sort of the person that everyone came to for advice or something like that. I'd use my magical snow powers to grant wishes and stuff like that. But, if anyone came to me wanting to be super rich or something I wouldn't grant wishes like that because it's not what is most important. But, I wouldn't be easily walked over either, I'd outwit them with my wiseness.

I'd also have a super cool sparkly flowly outfit and really long icy blonde hair. Kirei na! ^^

Brian

Can you understand the lyrics in the Enya songs?

Hara Michiyo
11-20-2009, 11:53 PM
To be honest I don't listen to much Enya music. I know of it though. I understand most lyrics, that I've heard. The words are just elongated for most songs.

Brian
11-21-2009, 11:27 PM
Have you ever been to the Shetland Islands?

Hara Michiyo
11-21-2009, 11:32 PM
Nope, I haven't, and I don't ever intend to. But, you never know. I do know some people from Orkney though. They're a random bunch.

There is a lot of islands in Scotland, I've been to the Isle of Coll and Skye so far. There is more sheep on the island of Coll than there is people.

Brian
11-21-2009, 11:33 PM
Can you see the Northern Lights at night?

Hara Michiyo
11-24-2009, 06:02 PM
Years ago I did. There is a canal near me (Caledonian Canal) and at night I used to walk along it sometimes and see the Northern Lights. I haven't seen them for a few years now. It might be a combination of them not being so frequent and/or the fact I'm not out and about much at night anymore.

When I came home from work the other night I got out of the car and as soon as I did I looked up and seen a shooting star. I see them quite a bit because I live about 2 miles from the city centre so I don't have any streetlights stopping me from seeing the sky properly

Brian

How many times have you dropped your cell phone?

Hara Michiyo
11-29-2009, 12:18 PM
This is quite a relevant question :)

I have lost track. But sometimes it's because it has fallen out of my pocket when I take something else out of there. But, most of the time it's because I have wonky fingers on my right hand and I'm right handed so I do drop things quite a bit.

I'm getting a new phone for Christmas, so I just have to concentrate very hard on not dropping it, but it will happen, I can't help it.

Brian

Have you ever had any male customers come in looking for stuff so they could cross-dress as women?

Hara Michiyo
12-06-2009, 07:28 PM
You would be surprised!

I once did a make over for my Mum's colleague. Can't remember her name, or what her name used to be when she was a he. She's had the operation and had hair transplant bits along her forehead, it was very strange doing that make over. Occasionally there is a guy who comes in for make up, but he is about 65 years old and has socks for boobs. Each to their own.

There is a guy at my work who used to work for Lancome. He is gay and does drag shows sometimes in the local bar. And, one of his friends is a woman, but used to be a guy. All I've really sold to a random guy is some men's concealer from YSL. It's not really something you come across a lot in my hometown. Maybe more down south.

Keter
01-04-2010, 03:39 AM
would you eat fried grasshoppers ?

Hara Michiyo
01-04-2010, 10:45 PM
@Brian: You mean megalith as in big rock structure things? There is a lot of ruins of crofts left over from when families were all forced out of their crofts when they were set on fire within the past 200 years, I'm sketchy on the specifics. But, there is a few big rocks piled on big rocks to look like gateways etc, and stone circles...a lot of stone circles...

@Keter: Would I eat a fried grasshopper...probably :) I'll pretty much eat anything as long as it doesn't kill me. Mmm...grasshopper....nicely filled with protein.

Have you ever kissed the Blarney Stone? (I know that's Irish, btw)

Hara Michiyo
01-06-2010, 12:38 AM
No, I've only ever been to Ireland for about 2 hours. Took a ferry over, had lunch, came back. To Dublin I think it was. My Dad and step Mum have seen the Blarney Stone though. Maybe it's something I would do in the future.

Hara Michiyo

Dublin is the Capital City of Ireland (of Southern Ireland technically as Ireland is split into 2 parts), but that's all I know.

The Guiltiest Gear
01-23-2010, 08:48 AM
Ireland is split in two? o.o

Hara Michiyo
01-25-2010, 12:00 AM
Yes, Northern Ireland and Southern Ireland. Northern Ireland is the "prodestant side" and is part if the UK, and uses pounds as currency.. Souther Ireland is the "catholic" side and is a country of it's own and is part of Europe so the currency there is the Euro. War is still waging on in Ireland after several years.

Takai

Brian
02-21-2010, 09:09 PM
Do they sell Cardhu where you live?

Hara Michiyo
02-22-2010, 10:00 PM
@Takai: ROI (Republic of Ireland) is the south half and is absolutely nothing to do with the UK what so ever. They are on the Euro currency (so, therefore saying it is part of Europe) and any TV, companies, and advertisements are only ever aimed at Northern Ireland, Scotland, Wales, and England. I never know anything that goes on in ROI.

@Brian: Is that something to do with whisky? There is a Cardhu place but it's in Archiestown which is about an hour from where I live.

Hara Michiyo
05-10-2010, 12:55 AM
Hm, no. When it snowed heavily in the winter I made a hidey hole that was about 3 metres long and about a metre wide. The entrance was big enough to fit me through. It was fun to hide in there.

Hm, not really. I would prefer it if it wasn't there as the smell can be a bit strong, like cigars, but as long as I'm not breathing in the smoke I'm not too fussed.

What is the perfect breakfast?

Hmmmmmmmm.....ummmm......errr.....

I love breakfast, this is hard, as I like many things. I like pancakes, but sometimes they can be a bit sweet in the morning, probably something fried, like everyone else in Scotland, like a bacon roll, which I plan on having this morning.

I'm moving in with my boyfriend's mum soon and she owns a big posh smoothie making machine and I shall be using that in the morning now. I love smoothies.

Do they sell fresh mangos in the stores up there?

Hara Michiyo

Well, depends how you define fresh. We obviously don't grow our own mangoes, but we do sell them as they are imported. I love fruit, but I really don't like mangoes.

Fresh meaning not canned or frozen.
Can you wear wool clothes, or is wool too itchy?

Hara Michiyo

We do get uncanned, unfrozen mangoes, yes.

Wool is too itchy for me to wear. The skin on my body is quite dry so anything like wool just makes it feelsore.

What's the difference between rutabegas and turnips and parsnips?

Hara Michiyo
10-20-2010, 10:58 PM
Never heard of a rutabegas, but a turnip...well...is a turnip...and a parsnip is like a white carrot. And is tasty. I like to make carrot and parsnip soup, it's good, but I don't like curried parsnip soup. That's just vile.

Can you understand Yiddish if you hear it?

Hara Michiyo
10-27-2010, 09:44 PM
I know what Yiddish is, but I've not really heard it. No one here speaks it, it's not on TV, etc. Prbabaly more likely to here it in America than here.

How about Esperanto, can you understand it if you read it?

Hara Michiyo

I've never understood what esperanto is. I know it's something to do with Spanish, but I really don't know.

Have you ever mistaken a small orange for a tangerine?

Hara Michiyo
11-25-2010, 01:59 AM
Um, no, can't say that I have, but, that's only because I can't. Supermarkets here have strict rules on what dimensions a fruit can be and how aesthetically pleasing it is, so all fruits are the same size, so it is impossible to get a small orange unless I grow my own. All the fruit that doesn't make the strict rules, such as the mishapen large/small ones, they are the ones that are used to make fruit juice, so nothing is wasted.

Do you like kumquats? They're even smaller.

Hara Michiyo
12-14-2010, 11:11 PM
Um, well, they're ok. Would prefer a navel orange. It's nice.

I like physalis to, or however you spell it, it's sort of the same. Well, not really.
