Put it here, so it doesn't get lost, again--by me. And sticky it so it stays up top. ^^

Anime Lab Dictionary (http://www.animelab.com/anime.manga/dictionary/)

That site also has other neat stuff, too. ^^

Thanks to Takai for this reference. :D

This one is more simplified, but also pretty good:

Also this one may be helpful:

a guide to prepositions/structure particles (http://home.inter.net/kenbutler/particlehome.html)

Another great online dictionary; this one actually translates full phrases:

Denshi Jisho (http://jisho.org/)

That's all i have saved. Enjoy.

Thankies. ^^

There was a whole list of words and phrases somewhere around here, but I couldn't find them. You remember, the ones that Jeff and Aoi had put up? they're gone. At least I can't find them. >.< oh well....

I.. honestly don't remember which list you're referring to. What kind of phrases? Maybe we can compile a new one.

Mod edit--way off-topic >< sry.

We had some members, then, who spoke Japanese very well, but I'm not sure about now. Maybe a volunteer will come forward? :thi:

Or somebody could start a list, then someone else could give their translation, and some Mod, any Mod, really, could move them and keep them all together. I wouldn't mind doing that. And we could mention each contributor with thanks at the beginning. ^^

So, who starts the "seed" list?

You can find lists like that online pretty easily. On sites like Nihongo no Narau.

Greetings (http://www.learn-japanese.info/greetings.html)
Common Sayings (http://www.learn-japanese.info/sayings.html)

8)

That makes a whole lot more sense, to do it that way, than to just run a string of words/sayings, etc.

thanks, Takai.

Maybe others will also add the sites they found. ^^

This one has some ads, but nothing offensive or pop-uppy:

A gigantic list of Japanese kanji, with meaning and pronunciation. The audio file may be blocked by either a pop-up blocker or a spam blocker; you will need to add this site to exceptions.

Japanese Kanji Dictionary (http://www.saiga-jp.com/kanji_dictionary.html)

This may be silly, but i found that many of my friends are not aware of Google's translating tools. Although it translates from kanji only, it translates both single words as well as full sentences. (The version is ready for use now, not a beta anymore).

I have a Kanji dictionary, and also books on kanji and hirigana. You can get most books off eBay or Amazon from 99p. I haven't found an excellent enough website for translating yet, the books and dictionaries maybe worth a look into.

That animelab.com one looks quite good though :)

AnimeLab never failed me so far. It's the most helpful website i came across.

If you could give us the titles of your reference works, Hara, that would be helpful. I know sometimes I'd rather go to hard copy like that than hunt the web. ^^
