It was first out in Nineteen Eighty Eight, the most recent series, series Eight, was aired in Two Thousand and One.

It's a Sci-fi Sitcom, about Dave Lister, the last human being alive. Set Three Million years in the future aboard a Twenty First Century Jupiter mining ship, named Red Dwarf, his companions are, Holly, the ship's computer, with an I.Q. of Six Thousand. A Cat (in human form) that evolved from his pet cat. And Arnold Judus Rimmer, a Hologram of his dead bunkmate.

It works incredibly well, Lister for example, is not a hansom good looking space adventurer. He's the upmost slob, he enjoys drinking beer, eating curries and generally lazing about. Rimmer is the most annoying git on television. I don't think anyone else has ever matched him. He's self centred, egotistical, annoying, he abides to every rule in the book, he’s stupid, sarcastic, cowardly, and would sell his own grandma if he thought it might benefit him in anyway. He has no loyalties aside to number One; these would be good characters if he was only good/intelligent. However he is not, he’s got less brains then a chicken. The Cat is extremely vain. He's just as stupid as a real cat, and in the beginning all he did was, sleep, eat and explore. Holly is the ship's computer, he's supposed to have an I.Q. of Six Thousand, but rarely shows it. Saying that, Holly is a dude! He really just likes chilling, and having a giggle. Later they are joined by a mechanoid named Kryten.

The show notably had some original ideas in its day, a lot of which suddenly appeared on Star Trek – The Next Generation. Like Data suddenly started getting corrupted, coincidently the series before Kryten had just been corrupted.

Anyway, it's a great show, it's got great plots, fantastic characters with great intereaction. Lister and Rimmer hate each other, The Cat only cares about himself, Holly is forever playing practial jokes on them. I really recomend watching it, however avoid series Seven or Eight. They took a real down tumble. Series One through Six are pure gold.

Well, I watch Red Dwarf, and its pretty cool, I think. Best mix of Sci Fi and comedy ever... probably.

The best episode ever of Red Dwarf is the backwards one when they manage to back in time or something like that and they are normal but everything else is backwards, and they do a magic show where they drink juice and the audience thinks it's amazing. And when they first realise everything backwards by looking at a stone saying Nodlol (can't remember how many) miles, and they're like, "What's Nodnol?"
