Saw volume one in the store one day, and was quite drawn to the art. Plus the main character has wings.
Plot and Setting/Story: 6/10
+Anima is a mysterious race of people who have the power to turn parts of their bodies into that of an animal. They are looked down on and even feared by some who either seek to use them for profit or hate them for the way they tend to act: showing physical characteristics of the animal they can become.
The primary cast comprises of Cooro the Crow, Nana the Bat, Husky the Fish, and Senri the Bear, as they travel the world seeking a place to belong. The story portrays their increasing trust in each other as they reveal their individual hidden secrets and interact with various humans and other +Anima. With each chapter the characters travel from town to town meeting people who either admire or hate +Anima.
Characters/Character Development: 10/10
Now we get to this manga's strong point.
It's a little different from other manga in that the characters don't actually care about each other's pasts. They stay together simply because they are the same race. There is a level of tension within the group however as they learn to trust and believe in one another and rely on one another.
Art: 10/10
I'm totally in love with the art style. There is so much detail, and there is something about the Native American clothing style they all wear that just draws you in.
