kharmy, what is your opinion on the following global issues:

i. Presidential Election
ii. Abortion
iii. Death Penalty

Q1: lol, I was one of those people who was pro Ron Paul during the primaries, and since that didn't pan out, I'm pro Obama now. McCain's stance on everything in pretty much the same as how the current administration and how its running everything. He's like a Puppet on the lap of the current president, with Bush's hand up his back pulling the strings :swe: . That and McCain's idea of a fair campaign is taking shots at his opponent [ie: the ad with Britney Spears and Paris Hilton, etc.] It's about time we had an articulate, intellectual person in office with fresh ideas rather than someone who denounces any possibility of policy change, and intends to keep us in debt, pfft and the Patriot Act which pretty contradicts all that the constitution stands for.... not to mention, mispronouncing the names of countries among other vocabulary... *lulz "strategery" -G.W. Bush-*

Q2: I've stated my stance on abortion before, and caused quite the uproar... it turned a Sociology-11 classroom into a gender/religious/ethics war, so I'll stifle and not state my stance on it lmao. *Avoids an ACF civil war*

Q3: Here in NY state, the severity of the crime that merits the death penalty, pretty much has to be something that breaks the normal bounds of the typical crime. lol, I mean in this city alone there's been so many extreme murder cases that our legal system has become a little jaded. Though, for me it all depends on the types crimes and the complete disregard of ethics and morals of the person who committed it. Scenarios such as: (a) The murder of a child (b) the unprovoked murder of an elderly person (c) serial murder by a person who is beyond any institutional treatment (d) Ummm, some guy obsessed with a girl who then stalks her, follows her home one day, rapes then kills her. [there's been a lot of those cases on the news lately] For most other things, I think a Life sentence without parole would be sufficient, but for someone who's a career criminal who has no remorse for their crime(s) what so ever, then screw it, death penalty.

Q1: LOL, I'm always up for profound explanations. Montreal-chan always likes to pick my brain a bit and peek at it's machinations.
Q2: Jukken's still around, just quiet these days. I've been so busy these days, it's been on the shelf collecting dust for a while *dusts it off and polishes it*

I'm pretty happy right now, given the daily rat race of work and such, but Clover always knows how to make me smile when I get home... and Mello-bear too  . As for the past, I was happy but it was like a hollow kind of joy. I guess it was an unfulfilled happiness  meh, semantics

how hard has it been to become a prominent graphic designer? (goes into occupation mode) lol

Very hard. The design world goes way beyond filters and renders, everything's done from scratch, not only that you have to kind of coordinate your work in multiple programs [especially in the printed media field], you'd have to bounce around between programs like Adobe PhotoshopCS3, Illustrator, InDesignCS3, PDF publishing, etc. It's fun, but its tedious.

Do you sleep with your bedroom door open or closed? and why

lol, I sleep with it open. Mostly for safety reasons, like if there's a fire or something I can hear the alarms, or if someone's knocking on the door, since my bedroom's all the way in the back of the house.

I get a lot of nicknames from coworkers or people here, like Kharmy [derived from my real name "Kharma"], or for the people who knew me by the old ACF name [Nagi]. But one that stands out the most is a coworker of mine who calls me Kharmageddon, which I think is pretty epic. lol

do you find it difficult to imagine living in a smaller town? i have a hard time comprehending living in a place like nyc.

For me its sort of a double edge sword, on one side I've always felt that living in a small town would be cozy and peaceful [sans the anxiety], but at the same time since I'm accustomed to all the amenities of the city, I'd find it hard to cope with the absence of the conveniences [ie: a mile drive to a supermarket in a small town, whereas there's a grocery store on every corner here in the city]... I'd say it's harder to live in a small town lol, its harder to get access to a lot of things.

If I really cared about this person I would just go for it and eat it. I wouldn't want to hurt their feelings. Also, if I knew in advance that she was going to make me something, I would forgo eating anything leading up to that meal, like the saying goes "Hunger is the best spice"

:study: What I though I'd do in this thread from time to time is add a few FAQ's that aren't asked by members on here, but asked by people in my varied environments [work, home, school, etc.]

Q: What's most important to you, never going hungry, or never being homeless?
Kh: Growing up poor and all, I have a greater appreciation for having a full stomach. A home -without the splendors of convenience- is what you make of it, a motel room, a parked van, etc. Like the proverb goes "Home is where the heart is"

Q: Ever resented having such a peculiar name?
Kh: Not really. It just adds more atmosphere to my being. lol, oddly enough most people with unusual names turn out to be the most intriguing and artistic.

Q: If you can start over, what would you change?
Kh: Nothing

hey mister philosophy major, what drives an individual to instigate and provoke?
Depends on that person's personality. Individuals who provoke fights usually have histrionic personalities, just a means of drawing attention towards themselves. Those who instigate fights are often narcissistic, one can imagine people who like to "play god", they harbor manipulative or grandiose perspectives and take enjoyment in prolonging the misery of others for personal enjoyment :?

do you really think that brown eyes are "overdone"? T_T
(remembering one of your myspace statuses)

lol

Kharmy
12-31-2009, 11:12 PM
Oh that, lol. I like brown eyes [ I mean, have 'em], it's just blue and brown eyes are so common so I get caught off guard when I see a pair of green ones [or those really intimidating opaque blue ones that look like Alaskan Huskies]. In any case, people say brown eyes are heart warming to look at.

Kharmy

lol, the last thing I sculpted out of limestone was way back in college [sophomore year] of woman in a shroud, as for recently - probably a Gundam kit.

When you make pancakes, do you ever make variant recipes like cinnamon-apple or blueberry or chocolate chip?

Kharmy
02-24-2010, 11:51 PM
I've made Butterfinger pancakes once, lol not the whole candy bar but shaved off flakes of the peanut butter. They weren't great but it doesn't hurt to try something new.

Kharmy
08-01-2010, 05:17 AM
Yeah lol: Leonardo [two katanas], Raphael [two sais], Michaelangelo [two nunchakus], Donatello [a bo]. I'm a product of the 80's lol. Never really liked the 2000's 4Kidz version.

What do you like on your pizza? Do you like ham-and-pineapple pizza?
lol, I didn't see this one. I don't really like anything exotic on my pizza, just the typical stuff: pepperoni, sausage, red/green peppers, chives and--if I'm feeling wild--ground beef or mushrooms.

What about the colors?

What about Brian's previous question that came before mine? lol
lmao, I'm sorry. I've been uber oblivious lately. Oh, umm, Leonardo=blue, Raphael=red, Michaelangelo=yellow/orange [depending how your TV screen displayed colors], Donatello=purple.

If there are fleas on a dog, does the dog belong to the fleas, or is it the other way around?

Kharmy
10-21-2010, 04:23 AM
Hmm, depends. It's more a matter of majority control , [if a dog could speak lol] it'd probably say "I have fleas" implying ownership of said fleas, yet the fleas can't really say "We have dog". lol if the Earth could speak it'd probably say it has a bad case of us. Existentially, on the other hand, the dog can be aware of the fleas' existence, yet the fleas [are so minuscule] they may not be aware they're even on a dog.

Kharmy

Not sure if this counts, but the Bronx Zoo out here in NY has a habitat for the bats that's carved into a hillside with stalactites and all. I've been there.

Given the size of the universe and the variety of conditions, what do you think the probability is that giant flying reptiles actually exist on a planet somewhere?

Kharmy
12-07-2010, 05:26 AM
lol it's weird, I just wrote a paper on the anthropic principle. I believe so, it's possible that the organisms that formed early reptilians must have come from cosmic debris, I'd always imagine if it's possible on Earth then there's a marginal possibility it can happen else where. They probably wouldn't look like dragons in the traditional sense. They might have a clear membrane for skin instead of scales, or bright colors, etc.

How long do you think it will be before there's a commercial hotel in orbit?

Kharmy
12-21-2010, 09:59 AM
It'll be a long while before orbital hotels can be realized. There's a lot of factors for something of that scale. There's the the cost of such a project, the budgetary constraints of most nations, the difficulty involved in maintaining orbital velocity─MIR itself has to maintain a speed of 17,200mph just to assure it doesn't crash on our heads and it can only house 6 people at a time─there's the cost of maintenance such as restocking food supplies, fuel for rockets used for course correction, resupplying oxygen reserves, and the constant launches from various space programs for these deliveries. lol, I would imagine the cost for an night's stay is luxury only the world's top 1% wealthiest can afford. Maybe one day it'll happen, unfortunately not in our lifetimes apparently

Do you think people are capable of making actual random decisions, or will they always be influenced by their own values and desires?

Kharmy
01-13-2011, 03:04 AM
lol, I think humans will more than likely have some sort of bias on their decisions. Sub consciously, the ego tends to do what is in our best interest for survivability─selfishness by default I guess. On our own we can never truly act counter-intuitively unless were oblivious to the fact, like in answering to something without being told what it is first.

i.e.:
"...hey so should we go with blue or pink?"
"Huh? Um, pink I guess"
"Okay, you heard the man, paint his car pink"
"Wait, wuh?!"

lol

Kharmy
01-28-2011, 06:08 AM
Sure, I guess lol. Like how adding the Aeolian formula to major scales makes them minor, or how Cm9 can also be Ebmaj7/C, or how playing things in D locrian sounds kind of comical lol [well to me anyway].
