HunterXHunter is both an anime and a manga. I have only seen the anime but I have heard it keeps pretty close to the manga. So far for the anime there are only 90 episodes. There is the TV sieres and 3 OVA's. The manga continues after that, but from what I have read it is unconfirmed if they will continue the anime.

It starts out with a young boy named Gon who was raised by his aunt on Whale Island. An unknown man comes to the Island to meet Gon. He tells Gon that his father Ging is alive and is what is called a Hunter. From then on Gon is on a journey to become a Hunter and meet his father.

When he becomes 12 he is alowed to take the test to become a Hunter. From there it all begins. Through the test Gon meets his 3 companions. There is Kirrua, Reorio, Kurapica (might be spelled wrong). In the GI OVA the also meet Bisque.

The sieres is action pacted and the animation is solid. They go through many different trials and encounter many different enimies. My favorite of which is Kirrua brother. There are many twists and turns in this sieres. I would really recomend it. I give it 9/10. It rocks.

I hope you like this review. It's my first and I hope you enjoy the anime as much as me.

Hunterxhunter is really one kick-butt series. i like the first OVA most, the one where it's focused on Curapica and the Genei Ryodan. it's really dark and in contrast to the first part which is about the hunter exam and all that adventure. the 1st OVA's really angsty, and must i say, for viewer's discretion because it has a lot of depth in it. and the art and animation there rocks the most to boot.

well, as for the manga, it's quite...not for my liking. the art's really funky, if you ask me [that is, because i've watched the anime first before i read it.] but, as far as the story goes, it's really topnotch.

about the series...hm, as it kicked off in the beginning, you really get the idea that it's gonna be a long series. and really long i mean, as the story progressed so slowly, especially about gon and his search for his dad. i mean, the 2nd OVA, greed island, is just a part of that search and it's not even a clue to where Jin is [it's just his show-off].

as of now, greed island is finished, but i have no news on whether they're really gonna continue it. but i do wish they continue it, because it's really good. togashi yoshihiro really rocks...he's legendary. well, almost.

Ok to correct a couple things said his dads name is Ging not Jin. Also you are right it does continue, but only in the manga from what I know. Its a real shame to. There will probably not be anymore to the anime due to the fact that the creater was not happy with the GI OVA's. The took a lot out of it. It was more graphic in the manga. The NGL arc is the next part. I haven't read it yet but I would like to. Also that was Gon's father at the end of GI Final. In the next part I have heard you see a fight between hin and Genei Ryodan's leader, Lucifer or Satan, I can't for the life of me remember his name.

I've seen the first ten episodes of this one. I thought that it was okay. This one is really aimed more towards kids ages 7 to about 13. However, I wouldn't mind seeing any more of it if I can. I'm just not a really big fan of it.

I hate to disagree with you Megami, because you are usually right, but in this case I have to say your age grouping is wrong. It is not for kids that young in my opinion. Like I had said earlier it starts off a bit slow but once you get into it the story gets a bit more violent. When you see someones heart ripped out I think the age level increases. Also if I remember ther is a bit of language later on too. I would say its like Naruto for its age level at 15 or 16+.

Like I had said though, I had only seen up to episode 10. When I get the chance to see more of it, then I'm sure that my age opinion will change.

all i have to say is that HxH is awsome but the manga sucks. I wish the anime would continue to the point where it shows Gon with incredible power.

Naah the manga doesn't suck, the problem is that the author is very ill and he does what he can to continue, but sometimes its not enough S:
And the manga and the anime are EXACTLY the same XD (at least in my point of view) Only that the anime finishes in the middle of the Greed Island Arc and the art is better.
The manga is still ongoing and its really dropping quality because of Togashi's health. He is my favourite author ever but he should stop D: Or finish it quickly...
But it would be a real pitty that for an awesome manga as Hunter x Hunter to have a rush ending, like it happen to Yu Yu hakushofor the same reasons...

By the way.... LEORIO FTW!
