The promotional cover wrapper on the 14th and final volume (released on Wednesday) of Yasuhiro Nightow's Trigun Maximum manga has revealed a 2009 opening for the previously announced Trigun theatrical animation project. The tentatively titled "Trigun the Movie" project will feature a completely original story from Nightow and Trigun series director Satoshi Nishimura (Hajime no Ippo/Fighting Spirit, Shin Cho Bakumatsu Shonen Seiki Takamaru), as well as a script by Yasuko Kobayashi (Claymore, Shakugan no Shana, Witchblade anime). Takahiro Yoshimatsu (Jubei-chan - Secret of the Lovely Eyepatch, Ninja Scroll series) will return from the Trigun television series to design the characters that Madhouse will animate. The manga's cover wrapper indicates the story will be about "Vash vs. Wolfwood," the two main characters of the popular manga.
The possibility of a Trigun movie first arose over two years ago in an interview with Madhouse founder Masao Maruyama and later at Tokyo Anime Fair 2006.

o_O Vash vs. Wolfwood? isn't that kind of.. impossible after the events that took place in the TV series? or is it just going to be some side story that would take place somewhere in the middle of the story of the TV series? (kind of like Bebop movie that would be impossible to happen after the story's end) But wow, i'm surprised that something else is being made with Trigun. I mean it's been a long time. Usually adaptations are made within two years of each other, but here it's quite a distance. I'm curious about the plot, especially involving Wolfwood. Though I don't want Vash vs. Wolfwood at all; I don't want them to be on opposite sides :(
[spoiler:3n4qll5k]so the manga's story differs from the anime and Wolfwood did not actually die? was it one of those endings that the directors came up with themselves? *shakes fist* i had a major breakdown after watching the series damn it, how dare they lie to me >< i never read the manga.[/spoiler:3n4qll5k]

the manga and anime are completely different. the anime wanted to wrap up after 24 episodes (i think), but the manga has been going strong since about '97 until feb. of this year, where the final volume was released.

It was 26.
Wow, just wow. Another one of -those- directors huh? I hate when they do this. I'd much rather they followed the manga and cut the story off than making up their own endings =/ Especially -that- kind of thing >_< Meh, now I have mixed feelings about the whole Trigun story -_- Just how different is the manga? Was most of the anime events just the nonsense made up by the directors? =/

i definitely wouldn't change the anime, because i wouldnt have fallen in love with the series without appreciating the differences. anime can finish much faster than a manga-ka can put out one volume, so the anime eventually caught up with the manga and needed to keep going, so they needed to take their own direction.

K new things:
here is the official trailer:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HCcEv0gFnpM
it is an original story line and Yasuhiro Nightow has requested the original soundtrack people to return to make the music for this film..no release date yet
How did I not see this @_@
I love Trigun (only seen the first four episodes though.... need to get more AND the manga.)
Would the movie pull out some... spoilers, perhaps? Is it worth someone such as myself, who hasn't seen much or read any, to go watch it when it comes out?

I doubt it. You know how the cowboy bebop movie is made to be almost another episode, or occur between episodes, as to not bring spoilers? i'd imagine it'd be like that.
I hope so. o.o
It's not like it bothers me. I have plenty of time to find the anime/manga o.o;

I definitely have to read the manga then. I think I finished watching trigun this or the past year... and... I had a feeling that Wolfwood wouldn't die too easily... or like that.
gonna get them and I'm watching forward to see the movie!

Yes! A Trigun movie! =D I am so edger to see how they put this all together especially if its going to be Vash v.s. Wolfwood.
I never did get a chance to read a lot of the manga for Trigun, but I'm thinking I might just continue on with it. I don't even remember the reason I stopped reading it in the first place. =/ My Trigun love is being resurrected.
