It is often said that there are no stupid questions.
But are there stupid ANSWERS?
This thread hopes to prove that there are :-P
(although if you'd prefer a more serious answer, just say so, else the warning:
Sense - this thread makes none
Will be appropriate ;) )

When will you graduate with your undergraduate degree?
What is your major?
Your Minor?
Are you going to go on for graduate level studies?
Do you enjoy school--or academia?
Keated

I will graduate when I am done with my brain and am ready to let it jellify.
My major is in everything, technically, although when I had a minor, it was in shouting at a computer until it worked ;)
Used to enjoy school, but at times, with the effort I feel, I can't help but wonder if I've hit my limit, or if I'm just easily distracted.

Do you think that if you took a break from school, that you'd lose the motivation. Well, not motivation, really, but the momentum?

What impact are you wanting to leave on the world?
Keated

I already seem to lack in motivation, but luckily, my mass means that I can easily gain much momentum ;-P
Something like Eva's Second Impact would be nice ;) but seriously, I'd like to leave the world a more interesting place

How many hours a day do you spend on study and how many on play? ^^
Are you the oldest ACFer left? Member wise, not age wise. We ALL know who THAT is.
Serious though, you go back to 2003. Dude!! We should say thanks or something--at least.

WOW you do go way back, even before. . . half the people here.
8) cool.
if you could have any kind of physical appearance, attractive or other wise, you wanted, eg; bishi looks, muscular or tone body, tall height, natural green hair, smaller or bigger feet, a certain color of eyes, different voice... any thing at all. would you give up a part of your personality for it?
<_<
>_>
How do you get people to get so attatched to you?

Well, time for a MEGA ANSWER FEST, w00t XD
I'm in the mood to answer as sensibly as I ever do, haha, so there may be actual information contained in this post XD

It really depends - second term we were routinely spending over 9 hours in the lab. The maximum was over 13 hours in one day, haha!
Depends... does 7minutes still swing by sometimes? If memory serves, last time I checked I was #32 or something on the sign-ups :) I miss a few people from back then, but what can ya do, hehe :)
Is it only 2003? Feels more like it should be 2000, lol :)

I don't think I'd give up and of my personality, any part of who I am, just to change the way I appear... I guess the nearest would be to give up some of my laziness to be a little thinner, but there's no magic involved there. I should start jogging again, but I seem to get a cold every time I do so, haha XD
People are attached to me? The industrial strength glue must be working ;)

You're right, sorry, hehe ^^;;
Hmm, good question, I read quite a few... I like xkcd and Saturday Morning Breakfast Cereal for their sheer oddness and science-based humour, but storywise it's between Girl Genius and Dominic Deegan... I think I'd have to go with Dominic Deegan :)
Do you game online? And if so, what kind [XBoxLive, W.O.W., Guild Wars, etc.]
Not as much as I used to - used to play Team Fortress Classic on the Undertaker server :) my clan was <*OCID*> ('Oh Crap, I'm Dead')
More recently, I had an xbox live account for a year, but didn't really use it much.
I do however play World of Dungeons, a text based, browser based mmorpg, and I am currently design admin on the sci-fi partner game, currently named StarMarines.
where do u dissappear to so often?
I seem to get mugged by life... walking home down a dark alley, and WHAM, I'm gone, spirited away to a land where I'm expected to exert mental effort and work and such... to tell the truth, I should be working on a lab report, revision or the aforementioned game right now XD
I guess perhaps the other reason is that, I've been here a long, long time, seen people come and go... felt things pass me by... being here again, sometimes it feels almost... like my glory days are gone and that things can never return to exactly how they were back then, and to me that's quite a sad thought... I guess that's another reason, lol

Is it possible that objects on an event-horizon are actually sucked through a wormhole and materialize intact else where, or do they just get compressed into a singularity in a dense void?
*lol, I remember you studied physics... I figured I'd ask something related to your field

Interestingly, I actually need to revise for a general relativity exam (it's on Tuesday), so I should be able to confirm this after looking at my notes, but here's how I remember it:
There is a concept called 'the light cone'. Imagine one cone balanced on the tip of another cone. anything outside of that cone is... spacelike, I believe - it is existing at some distance from you (at the centre of the cones) but is far enough away that you can never reach it. Anything inside the cone is timelike - given the appropriate amount of time, you could reach any region of space within it. The cone itself is lightlike - a massless particle (light) can travel at this speed.
As you go towards a large point mass, the cone begins to shift on to it's side. Now, it's on a time/space graph, with all 3 dimensions of space represented by the sequence of circles that make up the cone, while time is the line straight up the centre. Thus as the cone shifts, it basically means that the future will ALWAYS be heading towards the centre of that mass. The point at which the edge of the light cone runs straight up the time cone is the event horizon, the point at which even time may not escape.
It is very unlikely that they will be reappearing anywhere else, especially since they'd already be ripped apart by that point - the force of gravity goes as 1/(r^2). That means if you double the distance, you quarter the force. So, as you get closer and closer, the force between, say, your feet and your head if you go in feet first becomes so different that your feet feel an entirely different gravitational force to your head... rather unpleasant to say the least XD
Still, it's not all bad news - you remember I said there were two cones, balanced end on end? The one above is the future. The one below is the past. At some points nearing a large pointlike mass, it's possible to get these to meet - to basically get time to loop around... quite interesting, no? XD
I would be better at explaining it with a diagram I think XD
:thi:

How would you escape from a vampire if you encountered her one day walking her doggy?
and let's just say this doggy was also vampiric for arguments sake....and big enough to be considered a horse. oh let's give it a jetpack, skates, and some dakka too!!
how would you escape? :P
Keated
05-21-2010, 12:20 AM
Hmm, well Plan A would obviously be a jetpack, but the vampire-horse-dog also has one, so I think I'm probably either going to have to escape underground, upwards and faster, perhaps in some sort of flying mecha, or through sheer force of awesomeness. Of the three, I think the third seems most likely. It would have to involve a supersonic-tank-mecha that is able to tunnel through the earth while rawking out on an electric guitar. For arguement's sake, we'll also make it a dragon-mecha. With prinny bombs. And spare jetpacks. And liquid nitrogen - everything's better with LN2. Also, for the hell of it, it can damnedwell play ride of the valkeries wherever it goes - EVERYTHING is more dramatic with ride of the valkeries playing :P
Plan B would have to involve some form of anti-vampire flakk gun I suppose.

If you drew a cat, would it be a realistic-looking cat or a cartoon-style cat?
Keated
05-27-2010, 11:50 PM
knowing me, it would be a stick cat ^^;; my drawring abilities are... limited at best, unfortunately. I'd love to practice some, I guess, but I always find myself busy with something else, haha.
Even when I feel like I have spare time, somehow it always turns out that I don't, lol :(

Do you say "matrixes" or "matrices"?
Keated
06-09-2010, 12:52 PM
Matrices is the way that we were taught in the maths module, so that's what I go with :)
The film 'the matrix' probably required many matrices to make XD
I think that was one of our lecturer's opening statements. Then maths. Grah :(
why are physics so difficult? ;;
Keated
06-10-2010, 02:05 PM
Because how else would people know how smart we are? :-O
Haha, but seriously, I personally find the maths the trickiest part of physics... the concepts I can understand, it's just learning how to make that relate to numbers that generally has me confused :(
So, it's complicated because it has complicated, and often complex, mathematics. (I doubt many will get that joke XD I reckon Serrie would if she were still around :) )
There's also the other side though - physics requires you to think in often logic defying ways... quantum physics and relativity are not easy concepts when you get into the weird stuff... for example, no matter how fast you're travelling, light speed in a vacuum is always the same speed. Moving at a constant speed is the same as not moving at all as far as physics is concerned, thanks to frames of refference, and things can not only be in two places at once, but two different states at once, up until when they're actually observed. Weird XD
Finally, physics is full of jargon, and specific meanings. Words which mean something else normally can be very specific in physics. So, that further adds to the confusion XD

If your hair started growing really fast, would you keep cutting it or would you try to get into the Guinness Book of Records for longest hair?
Keated

I'd cut it occasionally, possibly sell some of it off, haha, but generally would be happy that I seem very unlikely to go bald, hehe ^^

What is your favorite alcoholic drink? ;D
Keated
07-11-2010, 07:23 PM
Hmm, good question... as just a raw spirit, I'm torn between Midori and Malibu - both make most things better :)
For composite things, a good White Russian is hard to beat, although I do make some pretty nice alcoholic punch when I can afford it - Midori, Malibu, Vodka, apple juice, orange juice, pineapple juice... yay :)
Goes a wonderful green colour and is really, really sweet :)
[I seem to have a high tolerance for sweet things... possibly I'm partly immune by being so sweet myself? :P ]
Then, there's the Heisenburg... doesn't taste great, doesn't look great, is pretty expensive, but on the plus side, if you have more than 3, you probably won't remember anyway XD

Did you know that you can sing "The British Grenadiers" to the melody of "Pinball Wizard"? The Marine Hymn and The Wabash Cannonball are also interchangeable with those songs.

xD that's interesting indeet.
if you could pick between a fire, an oven and a microwave which would be your cooking method of choice? xD
Keated
09-05-2010, 11:53 PM
Probably the oven - I do much of my unhealthy cooking in one, so it's probably my most used heating method.
Of course, if hobs come under fire, definitely fire - I do love me some fajita goodness XD
Brian

When you put aluminum foil in the microwave oven and sparks shoot off it, are the microwaves knocking whole atoms off the foil, or just electrons?
Keated
09-10-2011, 03:24 AM
Hmm, I'm honestly not sure without looking it up, but I'd guess it's to do with ionisation making a charged path for the electons to flow through. I don't think the foil's vaporised at all though, so I'd probably hazard a guess that it's electrons :)
