What would you say your favourite, or least favourite genres are?

No bashing people for their preferences :-P

As for me, I dislike most rap, country, and anything that sounds suspiciously like it.

I like most forms of metal, I loves me some 90s cheese, and a fair bit of the 80s stuff, along with a few random bits here and there, like Sarah Brightman, and Daft Punk :)

I think the musical things that I'm more likely to like are a classical-styled female voice, piano music, and guitars :)

I have general distaste for country, pop, pretty much everything on the radio.

I like indie bands, unique sounds, prog rock, some metal, jam band, hippie, old bands from the 60s, 70s, 90s, etc.

I'm not going to slate anybody for their musical tastes, everyone has their right to their own opinion and preferences. But I think today's music (virtually all of it) is absolutely crap.

Which is why I seem to be listening to '90's and early 2000's rock, metal, nu-metal (apparently is the same as rap-metal o_O) and a bunch of really old dance songs from the early '90's.

Can't stand most rap, unless it's incorporated into other styles of music, like rock or metal.
But just plain and simple rap annoys the hell out of me.
>.>
I also greatly despise the whole "Mickey Mouse" chipmunk voices thing, and a hell of a lot of pop music.

Oh yeah, and even though I used to like it a lot, I'm rapidly starting to hate punk music for their lack of any real musical talent as a generalisation.
-.-
That and scene kid and emo music.
But more the former.

But I'm into a lot of metal (mainly metalcore, thrash metal, death metal and power metal), and I like some classic rock and old-style "heavy metal" e.g. what was once heavy and now is like pretty mellow stuff. XD
I also like some random bits and pieces of other rock genres and just some random songs that I think are okay (or at least the guitar parts are...)
And surprisingly, I like a little smidgen of techno now as well.
Oh, and can't forget Japanese music. o.0
Or foreign music in general, except I think Japanese is the only one that somehow doesn't fit into conventional genres of rock or metal or pop...o.o;;

Oh, right, and now and again I listen to classical music too.

rap stands in my book as a very ridiculous form of music but for people who like i have no problem just have my choice not to listen to it along with country,pop,r&b,jazz,hiphop...hm, i think really thats all the genres i dislike.

but i completely love everything rock and has to do with it since i sing myself...^^;; i guess my voice fits the metal/hardcore genre of rock music more than anything out there.
oh and i love techno when i get really hyper and all round up.

Preferences: I like Metal primarily, I've been playing it for so long, also music I grew up with in the 90's like Soundgarden or Smashing Pumpkins, and the early Nu-Metal era bands like Deftones, and Korn. On occasion I listen to melodic stuff like Gorillaz, Radiohead.

The "not-so-much" pile: Rap from 1997-present, it's all pre-manufactured and driven towards record sales rather than substance, I liked the earlier stuff. Country music with the exception of banjos in bluegrass [which are hilarious to me psychologically... ask Montreal, she can tell ya about my insane reaction to it lmao]... and pretentious music... the kind of college radio rock where the bands act like their sound is so new and cryptic that no one gets it cause they use minor 7th and augmented dyad chords :?

Lest fave: rap, heavy metal, acid rock, anything where the bass wants to compete for existence with my ear drums. lol

Most fave:

Jazz (almost all of it--classsical, progressive, fusion, R&B, etc.)
C&W (older style)
Soft Rock (60's 70's 80's)
Classical (except opera)
Latin generally--all of it
Folk Ballads (like from the Appalachians)

really like almost everything but always return to jazz.

I can't stand rap and hip-hop.
I also can't stand Japanese visual rock bands (the young ones). In my opinion, they have zero individuality -- most of them look and sound the same. Alice Nine, Gazette, Antic Cafe.. I can't even tell them apart -_- Some of them have some really good songs, but in general I'd never have a favorite among those.

That being said, I listen to almost everything else.
I love Asian (mostly Japanese) pop, rock, soft rock, heavy rock.
And of course, anything and everything performed by seiyuu; it's like a separate music genre for me.
I also love old Russian rock -- 80s to mid 90s.
Also piano, violin, and cello.
Sometimes, if I'm in the mood, I enjoy dance and techno as well.
Yeah, pretty much everything else xD

-Most Favorite-
L'Arc~en~Ciel / Hyde
PIERROT / Kirito / Angelo
E.M.U (seiyuu)
Miyamoto Shunichi
Shiina Ringo / Tokyo Jihen
Vitas

If I could, I would erase these existences from the face of the earth: Gackt and Tokio Hotel.
