It is the year 2100, and on the colonised Moon, a project is under way to explore new aspects of energy. Amami Kurau is the daughter of the chief scientist on the project, and on her 12th birthday, she accompanies her father to the lab to observe the experiments. Then something goes awry, and Kurau is struck by twin bolts of light. In the aftermath, her father is dismayed to find that his daughter is no longer his daughter. Rather, her body is now home to two energy entities with fantastic powers.
Before I even start let me explain that we have 3 characters with Kurau’s face so as to not completely confuse anyone. We have Kurau the human,Kurau the rynax,and Christmas Kurau’s pair(which looks like 12 yr old Kurau)
This was an interesting anime to say the least. It starts out as a flashback to Kurau’s 12th birthday and shows how the 2 Rynax assimilated with Kurau and how Kurau’s father cam e to accept Kurau was still his daughter despite being different now.the rynax and Kurau’s dad making a deal that they’ll return to their world and ret urn kurau’s body to him once they have recovered(takes 10 yrs). As it turns out Rynax energy are actually energy life forms that live in binary pairs(no idea how to explain it,but rynax refer to their pairs as their other halfs). Timeskip forward about 10 years and Kurau is living as an agent(think mercenary) who prefers not to use lethal weapons,and secretly uses her rynax powers to be the best there is. She stops doing the dangerous jobs once her other half is finally strong enough to wake up again and emerge from Kurau’s body but at this time the GPO(think Govt/police force of the entire world) start hunting down what they call Rynax sapiens deeming them as dangerous.
One of the things I like about the series is despite the fact Kurau and other rynax have the power of flight,phasing through solid objects,super strength,turning into energy,and disintegration of anything they wish,and firing energy blast the GPO has weapons that negate their powers and renders them unconscious so the chracters are constantly on the run,barely able to escape each time.
Its interesting to note that most of the rynax simply dont comprehend the concept of death or even what a family is,but they are pretty good learners lol
i really like the music that plays whenever rynax use thier powers really adds to how sad of an anime this is.
