This is a listing of flan addicts. To join, is simple. Just put your name (has to match with your screen name, dummy).
If you know what flan is, and you got a recipe, share it. Or not. >3
Broken Wings_Sene and I are co-presidents. LOL
I go:
Flan is my fave. Is egg custard with caramelized brown suger, usually on the top or bottom, sometimes both.

I LOVE Flan. It's the most best, goodest thing that I ever put in my mouth. Smooth and creamy soft but firm custard with all this syrupy stuff at the bottom. Oh. My. God! I thought I was going to die the first time I had some. then I found it was sold in grocery stores, like Publix, in pie pans. OH. MY. GOD.!! I know I gained at least 20 pounds after discovering that. Excuse my carrying on. Flan is just so good.
I think once there was a flan that had peach slices on it at a party I went to.
O.o;
someone ost a picture of flan... I think UK flan is different.

Of course it is! It's why UK flan. Is not flan at all. Is a cheap knock-off that the British want to peddle as their own creation before it was stole by the Mexicans. (according to them.)

I found a recipe for flan.. although.. not everyone here can cook... or are certified to use on oven . xDDD
1/2 c. granulated sugar
1 (14 oz.) can sweetened condensed milk
1 c. milk
3 lg. eggs
Yolks of 3 lg. eggs
1/2 tsp. almond extract
1 tsp. vanilla extract
In a small saucepan melt sugar over moderate heat, stirring frequently, until sugar is a dark, caramel-colored liquid. Remove from heat and pour into a 4-cup metal ring mold or 8 individual molds. Quickly turn mold to coat bottom and sides with the caramel. Let cool so caramel hardens. Heat oven to 325 degrees.
Put the condensed milk, milk, eggs, egg yolks and flavorings into an electric blender. Cover and blend to mix well. Pour mixture into mold; put mold in a larger pan filled with water to a depth of 1/2 inch. Bake for 1 hour. Remove from oven and remove mold from water. Cool and then refrigerate up to 2 days. Cover mold with an inverted serving platter. Hold mold and platter together and turn them over. Lift off mold. Caramel will fall as a liquid sauce over the custard. 8 servings.
And this is flan if you didn't know.

Flan is not a cake or a pie.
It is a custard (almost like pudding, except flan is ffirn and jiggly--sort of.)
My Broken Wings, you are torturing everybody w/ picccies of flan.
Oh! Some people like to put a little tiny bit of rum into the mix. The alcohol boils off. of course, leaves a hint of rum taste.
kZOMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!1
I'm dying here for flan!
Thanks for the recipe. It's way important to do the whole thing in a pan of water--like your recipe says.
That's what cqauses the smooth, firm, creamy goodness. OMG!! Ive gotta have some.

Call out the Flan Fan police. Another corrupter! Another who dares to change the singluar goodness of unadulterated flan. Lock 'em up & throw away the key.
LOL--just kidding. <.<.

Is the lemon mixed in with, or little bit sprinkled on top, and is garnished with lemon wedges, etc.?
Adulterated flan would get my taste buds' vote for fresh peach slices on top and side bowl of fresh peach slices w/brown sugar sprinkled, of course.

if it were sprinkled over it would kill you... it would taste so bad .... ever had lemon sweets? I tend to think that is how it is added... not on top of it, but as a fruit ... thing added... I like more the non altered flan please... or cheese flan or... strawberry flan or....

There is only ONE (1) kind of flan. That is the pure egg custard kind.
No fruit, thank you.
No other flavorings, thank you.
No nothing except the flan and its caramelized syrup!!
Thank you.
(Well, maybe some vanilla chocolate or medium sweet chocolate swirls on top.)

Oh. My. God.
I absolutely adore flan.
I would do anything for flan. Yes, anything.
Yes, even that.
