On August 10th, 2010, a.t.b., the Holy Britannia Empire overpowered Japanese forces and conquered the country with their robotic weapons, the Knightmare Frames. Japan lost its freedom and rights and was renamed to Area 11, under the complete control of the Britannia Empire. The Japanese people, stripped of their identity and now referred to as "Elevens", are now forced to survive in ghettos, while Britannians live in first-class settlements. Yet rebel elements exist, as pockets of Japanese nationalists continue the fight for their independence.
This anime is quite different from the average mecha anime, but then it has CLAMP’s artwork so you know itll be something interesting. Its even got a little magic in it with however C.C. didn’t die in episode 1 and how she gave Lelouch the power of Geass or power of the king as she called it(a red birdlike symbol appears in his eye and flies into someone elses giving him complete contol over their actions and memories)
Anywho the story centers around Lelouch(obviously) and starts with a child version of himself and his friend Suzaku at the start of the invasion and Lelouch promising to crush Britannia cue time to skip 10 years into the future
Lelouch is now a teenage version of his creepy coldhearted self, whom believes Suzaku is dead at this point(apparently they were seperated)and now lives in the Ashford school for nobles with his handicapped little sister, showing he was of upperclass status(hint hint)
Well now that the intros out the way, sounds like the typical gundam story of racists take over and a hero insanely good at mechapiloting appears to smite them eh…wrong what I love about Lelouch is he’s normal with the exception that he’s a genious stratigest and the power of Geass that C.C gave him, but even that power is very limited, the guy even gets exhausted quickly from running up stairs. I like how his role is more of a commander then a mechapilot, although he does pilot 1 when he’s on the battlefield although he stays away from the actual combat.
I like Lelouch’s character,he thinks nothing of human pawns as nothing as his pawns, and he does all this to make a perfect world for his little sister, although he seems like the kinda guy that would kill any1 that makes her cry as I said he thinks nothing of human lives. While it’s a good anime it’s a little too 1 sided with Lelouch and his knights on the constant loosing side I swear that Lancelot is the most overpowered thing iv seen in an anime, the thing rescues Britannia from a defeat and forces the Order of the Black Knights to retreat EVERYTIME like what the hell?,even the Guren is no match for it,the mass produced knightmares are no match for it and Lancelot is only equal to the Guren when it fights with its dual swords. And its only in the freaken testing stage, meaning its not actually meant for combat yet….
One character I don’t like is Suzaku, he’s just an other Syaroan, like I havent seen this kind of character before…it wouldn’t be so bad if he didn’t have the same face as 2 other CLAMP characters
The highlight of this series is definatly the fact there are awesome female mecha pilots, the way Kallen is so protective of Zero when he’s doubted, the way Lancelot and Guren move compared to other mechs, the mysterious C. C.,and all the pizza hut cameos
I like the way the series is going with Viletta getting closer and closer to identifying Zero’s identity is Lelouch, that news reporter that’s in the Order of the Black Knights to be close to Lelouch,C.C.’s and Euphiemina’s creepy stalkers, and the mystery of what exactly C.C. is,how Lelouch’s maid hasn’t noticed her in Lelouch’s bed, as well as what her true name is
The series is going to be at least 2 seasons, its still in the works
Music10/10
Story8/10 nothing new but its done good
Art 10/10 its freaken CLAMP
I notice people that like Deathnote hate this series calling Lelouch a Light-o ripoff….whoever that is
