~Chapter One~

Siaka was just sitting there, alone on a wooden bench in a park. The fall’s crisp wind blew around her, making a shiver run down her back. Her long thick chocolate brown hair swayed one direction to another following the wind. She was only 13 years old, no family, no friends. Her parents were taken away from her when she was only 9, she never saw them again. Siaka did not know anyone in her family with the exception of her parents. Her parents.... She cast her dark chestnut colored eyes toward the ground, looking back upon the day she lost her parents. It haunted her memories as if a scary movie were played to a young child, the fearful thing is burned in their mind forever playing, making sure they would never forget.
In a field, Siaka was sitting, amongst an array of beautiful roses and carnation flowers. Her hair glistened in the evening light, and the stars twinkled like diamonds in the sky. In her hands, she held a solitary white rose, which stood out amongst the red, pink, and orange hues of the surrounding blossoms.
Pinning a long, sleek strand of her chocolate brown hair nervously behind her ear, she stood from her resting place, but found that the flowers were quite tall. She was only about a foot or so above them, but it was enough to be able to look for her mother and father. She began to walk, desperately searching for them. Siaka needed to find them, before it was too dark and lose sight of the path. She'd been playing in the field for a long time, looking for a perfect flower for her mother. Now, it was getting late, and she'd not seen head or tail of them. Anxious and worried, her pace became faster, and she held tightly onto the single white flower, deathly afraid of losing it.

The flowers only seemed to grow taller and taller as she ran, or was she shrinking? She couldn't tell, but even though she was very mature for her age, it made her frightful all the same. She was panting; her body wasn't cut out for running. She was too young, too weak.
Siaka could heard the sounds of cicadas and crickets in the nighttime air, and she realized that the sun had set completely now. It was dark, but there were enough fireflies to illuminate the paddock so that she could continue her search. She tried to call out for her parents, but nobody responded. She'd never been so scared, and worried. She tried calling out again, it was becoming harder to speak. Over the buzz and twitter of the nighttime insects, she heard the tweet of a bird coming from a short distance away. Siaka’s eyes widened, and was amazed that she could finally hear something else besides the insect noises. She looked around, eyes searching frantically for the bird she'd heard. She saw it, and lifted her hand, the bird landed swiftly onto her finger.
It was a peculiar bird white with two dark blue-black eyes. Siaka believed it to be called a Hato. It chirped, and took off, almost beckoning her to follow. Taking any lead she could, the young girl hurriedly looked to the sky, watching as it zoomed around above her, leading her to something. It looked heavenly against the midnight blue sky, and she only then took absolute notice of how many stars she could see. It seemed like more had come with the arrival of the bird...
Suddenly, the bird darted left, and then right, and then left again. The little girl was sliding in the dirt, trying to follow it. Siaka felt strange following a bird, but it was the only lead she had. The bird led her to a certain spot, then stopped landing on her finger again. Siaka let the bird rest, grinning broadly. The bird looked incredibly tired, so she set the bird on the ground. She felt as though she'd only become more lost if she continued to follow it. Pushing through the stems of the flowers and the tall, marshy grass, she realized that her hand had met a void in the garden. Quickly, she pushed himself through, and her eyes widened.

She was standing on a beach, which surrounded a beautifully clear ocean. She saw nothing but pure white sand, and wondrously cerulean waters. Siaka ran to the waters edge, her feet stepping into the water, and the waves brushing against her feet. She lifted up her dress a bit, not wanting to ruin it, and watched as brightly colored orange fish swam around her ankles. She noticed that there were quartz crystals and sapphires and emeralds brushing up onto shore, and she picked up an emerald, remembering that it was her fathers favorite. She'd give it to him, and the flower to her mother when she found them.
She saw something out of the corner of her eye, and was greeted with the sight of her father and mother. She smiled broadly, quickly dashing through the water and into her father's arms, and she buried her face in the man's chest. Siaka’s father hugged her,and her mother hugged her as well. When they pulled away, the man, with a gentle, graceful laugh, took the gem from his daughters hands, admiring it. Siaka gave the rose to her mother, she smiled brightly and said, “Thank you Siaka”
A last smile was given to the child, before two men appeared out of nowhere, grabbing her unsuspecting mother and father forcefully. “Siaka run!” her father yelled. “Mommy, daddy!” She began to walk towards them slowly, but then suddenly someone sprinted past her grabbing her hand. Siaka, shocked and surprised, was caught off guard and stumbled forwards but quickly catching herself. She ran behind the person pulling her along, she looked more closely to notice that is was a boy who looked to be about 10 or more. He had tanned white skin, just a bit darker than hers, his hair was a dark chocolate brown almost black and wore long black pants and a white shirt.
Finally he stopped after it seemed the two had sprinted what seemed like a mile. He turned to look at her with golden brown eyes. “Are you all right?” he asked. Siaka nodded a bit breathless, she took a deep breath and said, “Yes but who are you? I’m Siaka. And why were those men being mean to my mom and dad?” He looked at her for a minute and sighed before responding. “My name is Ryou, and I don’t know what’s going on with your parents but i know the men aren’t good people.” He paused for a second before looking to the ground sadly and said, “They took my parents too, but I didn’t know why so I followed them.” She looked at him “Oh..., but why did you take me?” Ryou looked up at her seriously. “because when i tried to help my parents out they tried to kill me so I figured if you interfered as well they’d try to kill you too.” Siaka’s eyes widened, fear and shock appearing in them. Why did those men want her parents? And if they found them would they deliberately try to kill them?
Suddenly Siaka was brought back from her past, since a leaf had floats down from a tree and caressed her cheek on the way down. Why was she alone now? She was alone because after she and Ryou talked one of the men it the suits found them. Siaka had ran away after Ryou had pushed her telling her he’d try to hold the man off. But she knew a boy only 10 couldn’t hold off a 27 or more year old guy. She sighed softly bringing her hand infant of her catching a small, baby leaf that had been taken from the tree by the wind. “It’s seems we are both alike,” she said to the leaf,”Both taken away a bit to early...” She opened her hand to let the wind carry the leaf away somewhere else. Siaka got up and started running, she consciously didn’t know where she was going but her unconscious mind knew where she was going telling her that she must go there quickly.
Fireflies started appearing telling her that the sun would soon retire so that his sister, the moon, could take over. Suddenly something caught her attention, she turned her head still running, she saw a guy about 15 or so with blonde hair and sea blue eyes standing there. His gaze followed her with an unemotional expression, but soon faded away as a smirk began to appear on his features. Siaka wondered why he seemed so familiar, yet strange to her. Her thought were soon interrupted as she crashed into something. She was thrown off balance and started to fall backwards, she closed her eyes bracing herself for the landing. But then she felt someone catching her. She looked up at the person who caught her, and her eyes widened with surprise and shock. Siaka’s cheasnut colored eyes stared into golden brown ones. “Ryou?”

~Chapter Two~

Siaka was astonished, the boy who rescued her four years ago was right here in front of her. Ryou’s face had become less rounded and and more handsome than boyish as it used to be. He had lengthier bangs now that went to his eyes, and his chocolate hair was even darker than previously. But although many things matured as said his golden brown oculars stayed as gentle as before. The very golden brown eyes as she had viewed when she was younger. The man before her brought Siaka to her feet letting his grip on her go. Ryou blinked looking surprised, ”Siaka?” He leaned closer towards her studying her face intently. “Could you really be that little girl I saved that day four years ago?” Siaka pouted a bit, “I wasn’t that much smaller than you, your only about a year older than me.” Ryou grinned, “Your more cleaver than you look, and seem to be even more smarter then someone your age usually is.” There he goes with the age thing I'm only at least a year younger than him, she thought.
Suddenly she remembered the guy she noticed earlier and turned her gaze to were she had last saw him. Siaka could have sworn she’d seen someone turn and walk away from the scenery he once was at, but wasn’t sure. Ryou glanced over at the direction she was turned at, “What are you looking at now?” She turned her face back to him. “Oh, nothing.” He raised her eyebrow but shrugged it off. She suddenly remembered that when she last saw him, he was trying to hold back a twenty something year old guy. “Oh my gosh I can’t believe i forgot! What happened to you after I left? How could you hold back a guy his age? You were only ten! And whe-” Her ranting was cut off as he put a finger to her lips to make her stop. “After you ran off I punched the guy in the face and ran away, so I didn’t hold him back. And what I’ve been doing all this time was searching for my parents, the men that took our parents, and you.” She tilted her head to the side, “Why me?” Ryou looked at her dumbfounded. “Because I really didn’t envision me catching the men by myself, plus if we both thought about it together, maybe we could figure out why exactly they took our parents.
Snow began to fall, for what reason no one knew perhaps it was a blessing to show happiness that the two people had finally found each other. Or maybe, it was an foreshadowing omen crying for what could happen next. Siaka shivered from the sudden cold falling on her bare arms. Ryou suddenly realized that she was wearing nothing more than a short sleeved shirt and a knee high skirt, Why was she wearing such clothes in this weather much more this season.
Siaka's ice-bitten cheeks and nose were feeling just as numb as they had the night before. A chilled sensation flooded her senses to her very being, and the huge lack of insulation her shirt and skirt gave her wasn't helping in the least. An awkward silence was all that could be heard, the lack of noise rang violently in her ears. She was alone with her thoughts until Ryou spoke, “Are you trying to catch the flu or a cold or something?” he said while taking his coat off and draping it around her shoulders. He was wearing Dark Jeans and a long sleeved blouse. “Were do yo live?” He asked. “Um, around..” She lied and he knew he could tell by the expression he was giving her. “You don’t have anywhere to live do you?” Siaka shook her head no, she couldn’t pay to live in the house her parents owned and she was to young to get a job so she lived outside. Ryou sighed and grabbed her hand and started walking somewhere pulling her along. She had no idea where he was taking her, but she was to cold to ask.
The snow fell more thicker than before, making her hold onto the jacket to help cover her more. Flurries of snow and icy blasts of brittle air chilled the young girl to the bone, her dark, flowing locks of hair twisting and turning relentlessly around her cold, flushed face violently in the wind. Through the whipping gusts of wind, she trudged weakly behind Ryou. The feet and limbs of the girl's chilled form were becoming numb making it harder to move. Ryou must have noticed for he circled around and held her up bridal style and kept walking only at a slightly quicker pace. A small blush appeared over her features but she looked downward to hide it.
Ryou sighed in exasperation as he finally halted in front of a door which led into a mansion. Siaka’s eyes widened, was this really his mansion or was he a tenant there? He opened the door with a key he pulled out of his pocket, and walked inside. Siaka looked around dreamily, it was so big, right now they were in a oversized hallway. In the middle there was a fountain, shaped like a cat of all things, spitting water out of it’s mouth and into the pool of water below it. And a oak table set aside and a picture of Ryou when he was younger on the wall just behind it. But beside the small Ryou, a man and a women stood beside him. She guessed they were his parents. He got his golden brown eyes from his mother but his dark hair from his father. His mother had very light brown hair and kind, loving golden brown eyes, as his father had very dark brown hair and hazel eyes. Ryou set her down and walked into a living room, beckoning her to fallow.
This room was just a plain living room as she could see though, it was still oversized. It had one black lether couch in the middle of the room, a big flatscreen TV in front of it, a white wooden fireplace off to the left of the couch and a red wood desk with many papers scattered all over it against the wall behind the couch. Ryou sat down on the couch and placed his right elbow on the arm of the couch and rested his head in his hand. Siaka took a seat beside him, wondering what she could say.
“How come you brought me here?” she questioned, though was a bit knowing of the answer he might provide her. “Well I have decided, since under the circumstances that we need to work together to find the men that took our parents, and you have no home, that you’ll be staying here.” She just stared at him oddly, she was staying here in this huge mansion-like place? “Uhh-” Ryou interrupted her “But you’ll serve as a maid here as pay for your stay.” Her eyes broadened, “What! I am not going to be your maid why don’t you hire a maid or clean the house yourself!?” He looked at her tiredly and said simply, “Because I hate having people work in my house I don’t know, and I have no time to clean the house since I’m usually out researching.” She just gaped at him, he was just being lazy.
“So!” He stood up and clapped his hands together,”You can start now in this room, the cleaning stuff is in that closet over there.” As he said this he pointed at a door. Siaka was to dazed to even realize anything in peticular right now, so she just nodded and started to clean.
She first picked up books that were lying everywhere at put them in a nearby bookshelf, then she started to dust everything. As she was dusting she knocked over a metal box on accident, making the contents spill out. She sat down and picked up the book that fell out of the box. How weird, she thought, the book had no title, but was full with words as she flipped through the pages. Siaka flipped back to the second page of the book, it read, ‘‘Ryou’s journal’’ She quickly put the book back in it’s box and put the box back were it was when she thought she heard footsteps. Siaka was only being paranoid for nobody walked in, but she didn’t dare look at the book again in fear of being caught by Ryou. She started cleaning again but this time faster, she hated cleaning and she wanted to get it over with.
Ryou walked around the corner into the living room to see Siaka fast asleep on the couch. He looked around the room, everything was very clean. “She did a good job for living outside for her whole life.” he said to himself. That’s right, he thought, she lived by herself alone outside, she most likely got food by stealing it or something. He walked up to her and gazed upon her sleeping figure. Her face had a soft expression on it. Ryou wondered how anyone who has lost their parents, and had to live outside having nothing to depend on but themselves, could look and seem so content. He laughed softly as she stirred slightly in her sleep rolling over from one side to another. Hesitantly, he picked her up bridal style gently, trying not to awaken her. He walked out of the living room into another hallway which let to a spiral staircase. He trotted up the never ending staircase saying, “I really need to get an elevator installed, I hate these stairs.” Ryou finally came to a door and slid it open. The room was a master bedroom, there was a white canopy bed, and a large mahogany dresser, and a mahogany night stand. There was also a closet, a very large bathroom attached to it, and a balcony too. He set her on the bed and sighed. Siaka wasn’t that heavy, but all the same that was a good work out for today having to carry her. He put the covers over her, and walked out of the room sliding the door shut. Ryou began to walk to his own bedroom, feeling sleep starting to take over him. He sighed and stretched, “We’ve got allot of work to do tomorrow...”
Ryou woke up to the smell of something burning, “What the?!” He immediately got up and ran downstairs when he heard someone scream. “Siaka?!”
