View Full Version : Nintendo releases official name of the Revolution!
Nintendo's next console, codenamed the Revolution, has its official name now.
It is, no joke.. Wii.
According to http://revolution.nintendo.com
"Introducing ... Wii.
As in 'we.'
While the code-name "Revolution" expressed our direction, Wii represents the answer."
Many thanks to Member Name of AnimeForum.com for providing the information
So, what do you think? The Nintendo Wii? apparently, it's a universal name, so there won't be any variations and since it's such a small name there's no shorthand.
But seriously. Wii. Weird name, right? It's definitely a weird name. That's for sure.

Yeah I know, it IS a weird, but logical name...since that sound SHOULD be common to every country that gets the system....
Its also a reference to its friendliness I guess, gamers of the world unite with "Wii" ^_^;;

Everything starts somewhere, names included.
And this is a damned good publicity stunt, think how much free coverage they've gotten? most of the online comics I've read this week have mentioned it. You CAN'T buy that kind of advertising ;)

as in 'we play' Something to do with gaming together or something.

it's literally a 18 page article o.0
let me read through it and highlight where it talks about that, (which i'm sure it does, ive seen it) and then post it here o.o
Okay.
I've seen what Wii is supposed to mean somewhere, I've just managed to forget ><

If anybody is following the release of this console, and are keen fans of the Smash Brothers games, then this will be fairly important
I've heard from some people that because the development of the new game Brawl has fallen behind, it's increasingly likely the game won't be a release title for the Wii
I had heard beforehand SSBB was going to be a launch title but according to this, it's becoming less likely to happen
keep your fingers crossed

The release date for the Wii is going to be something around the 8th December for us UK people. I hear for the US it's the same (apparently the same date as the Gamecube release)
They have demo videos up at some game stores and SSBB is on the demo so I'm presuming it's still a release title
anyone else got any more info?
Here is the list of the games that are (most likely) going to be on the Wii, either at launch or in the near future of its release.
