The gentlest of smiles crossed the woman's face as she nodded. Pure wind blew around the both of them, teasing their hair and caressing their faces. Raine no longer had the strength to kneel, and slowly sat down in front of Rorak. She looked around the Reserve from her position, surprised by how well it looked. She was unaware of how the Reserve was revived. Raine soon returned her attention to Rorak.
"Are you all right?"
Worry creased her brow as she visually checked the boy for any injuries and whatnot. His uncertain expression added to her anxiousness at that moment.
-he continued to watch her as she came to sit in front of him. He blinked twice more, before slowly speaking to respond to her question.-
I'm-I'm fine...
-he could see that she was worried, but he was just as emotional. He didn't know what had just happened; she had sacrificed herself for him and his sanctuary but she had returned...-
B-but... how... what about you? You...
-unfortunately, he was unable at that point to voice the question as to how she was before him still. He didn't know how to word it, and didn't have the strength to say it. He could only hope that she could guess and answer what he wanted to say.-

Raine watched him with a slightly puzzled expression before the unasked question popped into her mind. She smiled that extremely gentle smile again before speaking.
"I'm not sure how to phrase it. It was like I was rebuilt, but not reincarnated; I still have my memories."
A small frown creased her features for a moment as she tried to remember everything at once. She stopped thinking about it to ward off the incoming headache.
"At least, I'll regain the rest of my memories once I've rested."
Her face softened as she took in his expression and tone; to her, it looked like Rorak was on the verge of crying, or close to some emotional outburst.
"It's all right. The dark dragon is gone and sealed away."
A bright grin crossed her lips.
"See? I told you that I would protect you!"
Oh...
-he didn't know what else to say, so he fell to, and then remained in silence, occasionally blinking.
When she mentioned that the dark dragon had been sealed, his eyes widened and it was at that point, that he leapt up onto his feet, following this with an exclamation.-
Wh-what?! How?!
-his last memories of the fighting between the dark dragon and the other - Raine's dragon self - were hazy at best, and because of becoming possessed by his 'true' self, he knew nothing of what Raine had done, or indeed how she had done it. He didn't even know where the damned creature was.-
o_o
How... how...? How do you... seal something like-like that...?
-his voice fell to a quieter pitch as he attempted to struggle with trying to remember, but being unable to recall the sealing of the evil dragon, he was at a loss and then just fell silent once again, staring nervously at her.-

While Rorak was going through the motions, Raine switched to a more relaxed position: lying down on the ground, her head propped up on her arms. She looked at Rorak when he asked about the sealing, and concealed a sigh; she was getting sleepy.
"By nearly killing myself. It took all of my strength to fight the dark dragon, and weaken him enough to where I could seal him. However, my strength was almost gone, so I was too weak to do it by myself. You helped me."
She looked him in the eyes by the last sentence. She faintly remembered a surge of energy, vibrant and powerful, surpassing her own in order to seal the dark dragon. Raine thought that perhaps Rorak's memories were a little jumbled, like her own, due to the massive amount of energy that was spent.
....?
-for a few seconds he opened and closed his mouth, evidently trying to say something in response to the last part of what she said, but like before, he couldn't find the words or the voice to say them.-
I... I did wh.what?
-when he did speak, his voice was very puzzled. he didn't remember it at all. he had no recollection of even having any inner strength... as far as he knew, all his power relied directly on the energy of the now-sealed dark dragon.-
....how?

Raine stifled a yawn.
"That's all I can really remember right now. I'm sorry, Rorak, but my thoughts are a little hazy right now. Maybe it would be best for the both of us to get some rest."
She sighed before quickly pushing herself up and onto her feet. The dizziness stayed for a few seconds, but she was ok afterwards. A sound from above caught her attention, and she shielded her eyes with her hand as she craned her neck upward to spot the source.
Raine could only make out a few blurry masses, but the noise, the roars, were familiar. Had the dragons returned? She smiled and watched the masses for a while before turning to face Rorak.
"Ready to head back?"
Oh...
-he remained silent, listening to her again, before he nodded.
when she got up, he thought she would fall down and quickly began taking steps toward her, but then saw that she had regained herself and he stopped.
that was when the distant calls were heard, and he joined Raine in looking up to the sky, looking very confused and for a few moments worried, until he saw in the distance a large airborne flock of many different sized and coloured creatures coming their way.
when Raine asked him if he was ready to head off, he didn't answer - he remained looking up at the far-away mass, looking slightly bemused but also in wonder, that the dragons that resided at the sanctuary were returning even after what had happened.-
...huh?
-Raine would have had to grab his attention somehow and when she did, he turned and blinked a few times at her, before realising what she had asked him.-
Oh... uh... sure... okay.
-he then waited for her to begin to walk, so that he would move to walk alongside her.-

Raine smiled and began walking, thinking that Rorak would follow. She noted how much calmer he seemed to be about the dragons' appearance.
Maybe he's gotten over his fear. I hope so.
She walked at a leisurely pace, too tired to get anywhere in a quick fashion. Once in a while she would look around the Reserve, her hands, and arms, marveling at the obvious differences.
The Reserve has a richer quality than usual too it, and...I'm not sure how to describe myself...
Raine also thought that something may have changed within her, but wasn't sure what, or why.
-once she started walking, he hurried to walk besides her and in fact walked so that he was against her, trying to use both of his arms to wrap them around one of hers for safety.
whilst not frightened of the dragons that were approaching - as such, he knew them, and knew that a certain dark and evil dragon would not be hiding amongst them - he was still unsure of what was going on, and wanted to use Raine as a means of protection.
He didn't even say anything whilst they walked. His eyes tended to remain on the grass beneath their feet, although occasionally he would look up ahead at the buildings they were approaching.-

Raine remained silent as well as the pair walked toward the distant buildings. She noticed Rorak clinging to her arm and smiled down at him. It was almost strange how peaceful it was, but Raine was thankful for it.
"Are you afraid?"
She asked out of the blue. Raine didn't clarify as to what exactly Rorak may have been afraid of. It could have been herself, as far as anyone knew. Waiting for his answer, she continued walking, the wind still pleasant and sweet.
....Mhm...
-he mumbled a barely useable answer to her question surprisingly quickly, trying to tighten his hold around her arm.
Before all of this, he had relied on the energy of his dark side for his confidence and with this dark energy sealed away for an unknown amount of time, he merely lacked the confidence that he previously did, and thus was very wary of everything around him, being unsure of what could happen and what might happen.
Having barely escaped alive from the dark dragon's wrath also wasn't going to help his confidence and self-esteem any time soon. he just hoped that Raine would be able to see this and understand it.-

Raine did understand; she smiled down at him and ruffled his hair with her free hand.
"Don't worry! I would fight again, if I had to."
It was a bit obvious that she was still recovering, so any more fighting would probably take her life for real. Still, Raine meant it, remembering in flashes how Rorak didn't want her to leave his side, even for short periods of time.
"I could use a nap..."
She mumbled to herself, stifling a yawn.
. . .
-he stayed silent as she played with his hair, trying to lean himself against her side whilst they walked.
Overhead, the crowd of dragons that had appeared in the far distance came to pass over them, leaves and blades of grass blowing around the two of them as the group of mighty creatures flew over them toward the sanctuary buildings.-
(they came back...)
-he turned to look up to them, watching as they disperced and began to descend around the buildings and on the acres of land. some of them were evidently waiting for the two of them to walk to them.-

Raine felt the wind stir at the dragons' presence and looked up as well. Her smile was heartfelt as she watched the magnificent creatures soar above them. She, too, noticed that a few of the dragons seemed expectant. She increased her pace, taking Rorak with her.
Once before the dragons, Raine bowed in respect and spoke with a gentle, yet loud, voice.
"Is there something you want to tell us?"
uh-
-he was surprised a little by her picking her pace up, to walk up to some of the dragons.
Once before them, the tallest of the group of dragons there returned Raine's bow, before it spoke. It spoke in a tone very similar to Raine's; gentle, but yet loud.-
Is it not that apparent what it is we wish to thank you for?
-the dragon watched the two of them carefully; as did the others of the group.-
There is no amount of words to express the gratitude of your actions... protecting our young keeper and restoring our home... no words can express how any of us feel.
-the dragon's eyes closed and remained closed. there was nothing else he could say.-

Raine was very surprised when she heard the dragon speak. For a while, she looked at all of the dragons present; during this silent observation, green-white light trickled into her memories. She didn't fully understand about the restoration of the Reserve, but was grateful nonetheless for the dragons own gratitude. She inclined her head, placing her free hand on her heart; words weren't enough to express how she felt.
Her hand remained on her heart when she looked up.
"I would do so again if I had to."
She managed to speak after the long silence, her tone revealing that she meant what she said.
-Rorak, as well as the group of dragons, remained silent for quite some time.
However, it was only a momentary silence. The speaking dragon of the group inclined his head again, and then broke the uneasy silence.-
Now is not a time to worry about what might be. I can see you are tired. . . I apologise for keeping you.
-with that, the group of dragons parted to allow Raine and Rorak entrance into the sanctuary buildings. As the two of them would pass, the dragon would speak again to Raine, but very quietly, and in a language that wasn't English, but one only the dragon himself and Raine understood.-
The young keeper's confidence will grow, and as it does, the power he displayed to you in your battle will surface... You know as well as myself that within him is a dragon proud of race and powerful in spirit. In time, that side of him will grow and replace that left by the Dark One's sealed fate.
-with that, saying nothing more, the dragon left, walking away with the others into the open acres of grass, turning to its own agenda.-

Raine continued inside with Rorak, a slight nod the only indication that she gave the dragon to let him know that she heard him. She faintly remembered a power that surpassed her own when she and Rorak were sealing the dark dragon. Raine definitely knew that it wasn't Scarlet, so that left...
She stole a glance at the small boy beside her, wondering when he would realize the power that he had. By then, they were once again in the kitchen, where everything had started rolling. Raine sat down in a chair at the table before her strength could leave her. She folded her arms, rested them on the table, and laid her head down on her arms; she looked at Rorak.
"You must be tired."
She commented.
Uhm..
-the small boy blinked. with Raine now seated and resting over a tabletop, he was merely stood besides her; he still hadn't left her side.
he stayed quiet for a few moments, before he nodded very slowly and somewhat shyly.-
I... guess so...

Raine smiled a bit sleepily.
"Nap time, then..."
Without asking or thought, she picked Rorak up and set him on her lap. She wrapped one arm around him so he wouldn't fall, and rested her arm against the chair (and her head on her arm).
"I'll get up in a minute..."
Raine mumbled. Within a few minutes, however, she was asleep. She had meant to take Rorak to the bedroom so he could nap, and she herself was going to use a couch, but the fatigue had caught up with her.
. . .?
-he stayed silent, looking very surprised as she moved him to her lap, and she then fell asleep with him there.
for some moments he was expecting her to wake up, but he didn't dare move himself to stir her.
however, it didn't take him long to, because of how she had moved him, become sleepy himself, and despite his own attempts to stay away, he drifted off also.-

(ooc: lol ^^)
Morning drifted off to afternoon as she slumbered, unaware that Rorak was also asleep by now. Her dreams had been patches of black, until a certain dream came forth behind her eyes. She saw green-white light washing over a vast land, but it was moving so fast that she could barely keep up. Multi-colored leaves floated into view, and she felt serene and full; content.
The view shifted to one of warm darkness, like under a blanket, being broken by an opening of light. Raine remembered this from when she emerged from the morning glory. Her arm twitched in her sleep, and she mumbled slightly, but then remained quiet, peaceful sleep taking hold once again.
-at first, his own dreams were of no real significance or of any real possible description.
however, it wasn't long before he found himself floating in what was best described as an expanse of empty white light. he was just floating; not moving, or falling... just floating.
He looked around in silence, not really knowing in which ways he was looking, when he began to hear a voice. It echoed around him, impossible to pinpoint.
The voice began to speak to him, telling him things; the voice didn't speak with a harsh voice or didn't speak in a way that he didn't understand - it was calm, and in a way kind. The voice was telling him about his power... it was telling him that just because the dragon of darkness that he had for so long relied on for his strength and courage was gone, that this strength and courage was gone with it.
In some ways it didn't seem like a dream but more like a vision, like he was really in wherever he was, with this voice speaking to him, even though he was asleep on Raine's lap.
Was... the voice truthful? Was this voice trustable? Or was it just his mind playing tricks...?-

Midday soon rolled around as the pair continued to sleep. More vivid dreams flashed throughout Raine's subconscious, but some were random compared to the flow they had earlier. After a scene concerning herself in a field of grass barely dotted with wildflowers had ended, she began to wake up.
Her eyes fluttered, and Raine lifted her head, covering her mouth with her free hand as she yawned. She looked down and saw Rorak still asleep; a grin appeared on her face. Raine looked out the window and guessed the time by the position of the sun. She was a little hungry, but remained seated, not wanting to wake Rorak.
Raine rested her elbow on the back of the chair, and rested her chin in her hand. After a few moments of silence, she began to sing in the softest voice she could muster. It was in English, and wove a tale of dragons and their accomplishments.
-he stayed asleep whilst Raine woke up, remaining lost in this vision-like dream he was having.
when Raine began to sing, however, it began to stir him from his sleep, but barely, and therefore very slowly. to him, her singing began by simply falling into his dream-world; the song echoing around him like the strange voice that had been speaking to him.
then, the song did begin to stir him and everything around him seemed to flash as his mind swept between dream and reality.
he stirred a little, moving very slightly in Raine's lap whilst he continued her song. it was only when she finished that the sudden change in the sound around him was enough to make him wake up; his left eye opened a little and he blinked, before he began to attempt a yawn, at that moment in time oblivious to where he was.-

When Raine stopped singing, she noticed Rorak moving.
I didn't mean to wake him up...
She waited as he yawned, wanting to give him a few more moments of "sleepy bliss". When he finished, a grin crossed her lips and she spoke in a quiet yet happy voice.
"Good afternoon! I trust that your nap went well?"
-when he finally woke up, after yawning he began to look around, his brain attempting to register what was around him whilst his body was still trying to stay asleep.-
...wha?
-at first, he didn't recognise Raine's voice, and answered in a mostly incoherent slur. Then, he attempted to lift an arn to rub an eye, blinked, and then looked up to see her, at that moment realising where he was.-
...? huh?
-he looked a little clueless for some reason.-

Raine simply smiled.
"Sorry for waking you up. Or are you still half-asleep?"
She chuckled and looked out the window.
Thank goodness for the return of strength! I'm not completely charged yet, but at least I can move without feeling like I'm going to fall over.
Raine broke away from her musings and looked down at Rorak.
"Are you hungry?"
(ooc: ....I'll think of something actiony soon lol)
Uhm....
-once again he just blinked. he didn't know what to say now.
he continued to watch her until she asked him if he was hungry, and at that precise moment, like a calling, his stomach decided to utter a loud calling - answering Raine's question without a need for him to try and say anything.
Instead of speaking, his cheeks flushed because of the embarrassing noise.-

Raine laughed when she heard Rorak's stomach growling.
"That's a yes! I'll fix something."
She carefully moved Rorak so that he was standing on the floor, and made her way to the counter. Pausing midway, she turned to look at him.
"Rorak, would you mind seeing if the dragons would like anything to eat?"
The dragon's words from earlier floated into her consciousness and she silently mused over them while waitin for Rorak's reply.
Uhm-oh....
-The uttered nonsense was an automatic response to her lifting him and leaving him standing. He stayed put for some seconds, before attempting another yawn and, whilst Raine's back was turned, a stretch.
He was taken off-guard when she turned back around to him, and he froze mid-stretch, blinking once as she asked him to see if the dragons would want anything to eat as well.-
Uhm... o-okay... if... if you think I should..
-he sounded a little unsure, but she had asked him to do something and he had said he would do it. after speaking, he relaxed from his stretch and then watched her. He didn't know when to turn to leave; he was waiting to be given a sign to do so.-

Raine grinned.
"Thank you!"
She gestured toward the door, indicating that he ought to go now, then closed the distance between her and the sink. She washed her hands and tied her hair back before getting started. Raine rummaged through the cabinets, turned on the stove...
After a while, she was cooking meat in a pan while checking on broth that was cooking in a big pot. She was also slicing vegetables and making the dough for bread.
-he blinked, remaining silent from that point. It took him a little while to move from where he had been deposited by Raine, and to turn and venture to the door. He stopped there and turned back, for a moment or so watching as Raine began to prepare food, before he turned, and finally made his leave.-
Why... did she want me to... to go out...?
-he wandered out from the buildings, walking very slowly along the sunlit grass whilst attempting to see any dragons that he could walk up to and ask them what Raine had sent them out for. For now, he couldn't see any close-by dragons, so he continued to wander around, trying not to venture too far from the buildings, but at the same time wanting to find a dragon to speak with.-
...Where are they all...?

Raine continued with her tasks even as the door shut, indicating that Rorak had left. After a while, an audible sigh escaped her lips, and she looked out the window in the direction that Rorak had gone off in.
How can we awaken that powerful dragon of yours, Rorak? I won't be around forever; you need to gain more confidence.
She flipped and scrambled the meat, and started cutting the last of the vegetables.
As do I.
Raine resumed cooking in silent thought.
-he continued to wander around outside, after a couple of minutes coming up to a tree and at that point he decided to stop beneath its shade. for a while he remained stood, looking around him in the hopes he may see something, but he didn't see anything whatsoever.-
...
-he sighed, resisting the urge to sit down in the tree's shade, and instead kept looking out, when he heard a voice from behind him, calling his name but saying nothing else.
He turned around, and there was someone... something rather, stood at the other side of the tree's shade behind where he was stood. A dragon, tall and thin in build, with white scales, and a dragon that hadn't been there when he had been looking around, and had appeared there without any sound whatsoever.-
...h-huh?
-he instinctively took a step back from this dragon, who remained where it was, sparkling emerald eyes watching him.-
Wh-what? Where did ... you come from?
-something of a smile formed on this dragon's face.-
It does not matter where I came from, it matters that I am here.
-he blinked, looking rather surprised as he didn't expect this response from the dragon.-
We need to talk, Rorak.
...what? why? ...who are you?
-he didn't recognise this dragon; this was the first dragon he had seen here whose scales were white. However, the dragon wasn't going to tell him who he/she was... it smiled, and closed its eyes, and then responded.-
Soon I will tell you, but for now, it is not important.
-all he could do was blink, and look very confused and lost.-

( :D )
Raine added the vegetables and the meat to the cooking broth, and stirred at a slow, measured pace. She seemed distracted as her gaze drifted between the soup and the window. She sensed something, but wasn't quite sure as to what it was; however, her instincts told her that whatever or whoever it was wasn't dangerous.
She sighed and shook her head to focus. The dough was put into the oven to bake, and she resumed her stirring.
What's taking Rorak so long? Maybe he couldn't find the dragons; I haven't seen any of them since they spoke to us before our nap.
Raine turned down the heat on the soup that it could simmer without overcooking the contents, and began washing the dishes.
(sorry, it'll be more animated in the next post!)
I...I'm... confused.. have-have I done something wrong..?
Not at all. Now... please, come.
-at that point, the strange dragon turned, about to walk away. A step later, and it halted and looked back to him, waiting.-
...H-huh? I... I can't go... I-I'm supposed to be looking for dragons...
-he stayed put, as that was what Raine had asked him to do. The dragon knew this, it seemed, because once again it smiled.-
You need not worry... I am sure the young one will understand why... do you not wish to know why I know of your name? Why you do not recognise me?
-the dragon sighed a little, but the firm smile remained upon its face.-
It is time that you stopped hiding from yourself, young Rorak. It is time that you see the confidence... the power that is within you, waiting for you to take it... -it turned away at that point.- I understand if you do not have the confidence to trust me. You are free to leave, and return to your duties if you choose, but you will not learn what there is to know.
-the dragon then kept its gaze off of him. It was, in a sense, a form of reverse psychology. The dragon knew that he was curious of how it knew his name, and what it spoke of. In telling him to leave, it was persuading him to summon the strength to do the opposite...-
O..okay...
-he slowly took a step toward the white-scaled dragon, which didn't look back to him, but understood simply from the sound of his footsteps. once again a smile formed on its face, and it began to walk away with him in tow.-
Follow me then, young one.

(ooc: okies, I'm postin'!)
Raine had just put up the last of the dishes, and was taking the bread out of the oven, when the wind blew through the open window. Her mitt-covered hands froze, still holding the pan, and the oven door was still open.
"........"
Raine shook her head, and resumed her tasks, shutting the oven door and placing the bread on the cook top.
I hope he'll be all right.
The dragon had been right; Raine did understand that Rorak wasn't coming back anytime soon. When the wind blew, it had filled her with the scent and "aura" of the white dragon. She simply wondered where the other dragons had gone.
Maybe they didn't want to interfere...
Raine mused to herself, walking to the back rooms of the building to get some cleaning done; any task would do to keep herself from worrying too much.
d(^-^)b
-he followed the dragon away from the tree, remaining silent because he didn't know what to expect. he didn't even know who this dragon was.-
...what... is going on...?
-all he could think to do was to wonder to himself what it was this dragon knew about him... confidence? power? as far as he knew, he had no power. All of his power had been because of the dark dragon that had resided as one half of his inner self, but that dragon and its power was gone... possibly forever.-
-inside the sanctuary buildings, specifically where Raine was, the light in the centre of the kitchen began to glow brightly - not blindingly, but enough to envelop the entire room in a yellow light.
After some seconds this light faded, but then, there was a transparent, ghostlike figure that had appeared in the room. This figure was distinctly dragonlike in appearance, however, and bore a yellow hue.-
Mistress Raine.
-upon speaking her name, the ghostlike figure bowed to her, in greeting and in respect.-
I have come to assure you not to worry about Rorak. He is safe, but he shall be gone for a short moment.

Raine quickly turned and narrowed her eyes as the light in the kitchen grew brighter. When it died down, she saw the ghost-like figure bow and speak to her. She remained silent for a while, worry still creasing her brow.
"Thank you."
A small smile worked its way across her lips, followed by a puzzled look in her eyes.
"If you don't mind me asking, who are you?"
Raine couldn't place the voice.
-what appeared to be a return smile formed on the ghost-creature's face.-
My name is Phiel.
-once it had said that, its eyes seemed to close, probably in thought.-
I assure you, that I am not here to cause harm, or trouble. I am a messenger sent on Rorak's behalf.
---
-the dragon had been walking for a while, and had walked from the fields and buildings of the sanctuary to the foot of a nearby mountain, where there was a lake surrounded by some trees.-
... a... lake?
-he was thinking these thoughts to himself still, as he didn't know what to say to the dragon that he was following. every now and again the dragon would look back to him, looking to see if he was still there, and possibly trying to make him speak.
when the two of them had walked through the trees surrounding the lake, the dragon stopped, turning to look back to him.-
You have questions, young Rorak. Ask them.
-he just blinked, getting surprised that the dragon was telling him to ask it questions. did it know of the questions he wanted to ask?-
Uhm... who... who are you?
-the dragon smiled again. the smile was something of a gentle, if somewhat knowing nature.-
My name is Celesa.
...Celesa?
Yes... you know me, Rorak. You do not realise it now, but we have met before.

Raine curtsied in respect.
"Thank you, Phiel. I know that Rorak will be all right. It's just..."
She sighed, and looked at the spirit-like creature before her with a tired smile.
"I can't help it; it's in my nature. However, I would like to be able to fight alongside him as a comrade instead of always fighting for him."
Raine took a few steps to get closer to Phiel. She couldn't make out any definite form, although it seemed dragon-like. She sighed again, and made her way towards the open window. Resting her arms on the window sill, she stood enjoying the breeze, still mindful of the specter behind her, but unsure of what to say next.
-the spirit-creature remained silent whilst Raine approached it, and until she turned to a windowsill and began to look outside.-
I understand, Mistress Raine. I know as well as you that once upon a time, he was brave and strong.
-the ghost then drifted from where it had been positioned to close distance between Raine, as she had moved away from it in turning to the window. It moved without a single trace of sound; if Raine had not bbeen so alert, she would have been surprised by seeing it appear closer to her.-
He once called himself your Guardian, am I correct?
---
I... I don't remember who you are...
I did not think you would, young one. It has been more than a simple matter of moons since we last met.
-the dragon turned away from him again, although still smiling.-
I have brought you here to show you something, Rorak. It is something that, when you see it, will answer all the questions of doubt that lie within you.
But... b-but... what...? What is it you want me to see...? I don't understand...
-the dragon turned and looked back to him; examining him with its emerald-green eyes.-
When you see, you will understand. Do you want me to show you? Do you still want to see, and to know?
Y-yes...
Then, come with me.
-with that, the dragon began to lead him once again. it began to walk the short distance that lie between them and the lake's edge. he didn't understand why the dragon had brought him to this lake... but it was walking towards it yet again. why had it brought him here?-

Raine didn't look at Phiel, but nodded.
"Yeah, it was a long time ago."
She frowned in concentration.
"...Do you think that he still considers himself my Guardian? That may sound like a silly question to ask, but people forget or get discouraged and..."
Raine sighed, vaguely remembering for a moment that she had lunch on the stove. She was restless due to the present situation, and her personal one. Her memories were slowly coming back from the point where she was sealing the dark dragon away. What had happened to her? Was she really the one who restored the Reserve?
"Phiel..."
She grunted, forgetting what she was going to say. Then she remembered.
"What...is the true name of the dark dragon?"
-Phiel watched her in silence for some seconds, listening to what she said.-
When a Dragon wishes as such to become a Guardian to another being, it is a position that they will take until the day the one they chose to protect no longer wants them to do so.
-the spirit then looked from Raine, up to the window that she was looking through, and out to the fields beyond the buildings.-
At this moment, he will feel he is not worthy of being your Guardian. It is not that he no longer wishes to, but he feels he is unable to.
-Phiel paused for a second, but then continued, like the spirit was simply taking a breath.-
His power and his confidence came from the dark energy that rested within him; it was this that gave him his strength in calling himself your Guardian. But without that energy, he does not have the confidence... But, I assure you, when he returns, that confidence will be there... it will not be as strong, but over time it will flourish.
-then, when Raine asked him her final question, his form drifted back from her - not much, but enough to be nothing more than a step taken backwards.-
The Dark One's name? ... Why do you wish to know...?

Raine sensed Phiel's unease, and turned to look at the specter.
"I'm sorry, I was just babbling and whatnot. Thank you for telling me about Rorak."
She smiled.
"I feel better now."
Now that I think about it, the true name of the dark dragon would be too powerful to even utter.
Raine sighed in frustration at her carelessness.
"I'm sorry Phiel, I just don't know what to do with myself while waiting."
She turned back to the window, her gaze focused on a few wildflowers growing near the sill.
-Phiel regarded her in a moment of silence, seeing how she had gone from wishing to know the dragon's name, to no longer wanting to know.-
Maybe it is best that Rorak himself tells you of the Dark One's true name.
As Rorak is not even his true name...
-upon that, the ghost-like creature sighed to itself, and then very slowly returned to its closer position to Raine.-
...Boredom can be the cause of many woes, Mistress.
--
-the dragon had led him up to the water's edge, and then stopped once again, waiting for him to meet alongside it. Once he was there, the dragon leant forwards and looked down into the water that was before them, the reflection of its face and neck appearing on the water's surface.-
Look to yourself, Rorak, and then tell me what you see.
-he blinked, not understanding at first what the dragon wanted him to do. it took him a while to realise that the dragon wanted him to look at his reflection, as if it had some purpose.
silently, he took a step closer to the water and then knelt, leaning forwards and over the water to look down at his own reflection.
However, instead of the reflection he expected; of a small, harmless-looking boy, he turned and looked down to the reflection of a second dragon, smaller than the one besides him, but similar in appearance; bearing the same white scales and features, but with pale orange eyes.-
. . . w-what....?
-as he blinked, the reflection of the orange-eyed dragon blinked also... from besides him, the emerald-eyed dragon simply watched, waiting for what he was seeing to sink in; to make sense to him.-

Raine frowned to herself.
"This won't do..."
She turned to face Phiel.
"Do you know what happened to the dragons? I haven't seen them since this morning."
Raine walked over to the stove, put the heat on low and a lid on the soup, but the bread back in the oven to keep it warm, and headed for the front door, though she paused to give Phiel enough time to answer her question.
Maybe there's something outside to do, away from Rorak so that we don't disturb him. Besides, something tells me that a clue to my memories has to do with nature itself. I still feel a little strange.
(ooc x.x ugh, hate having no Internet.)
-the ghostly apparition watched in silence as Raine began to hurry around the kitchen, seeing to the food she had been preparing. It quietly bided its time whilst she busied herself, before responding as she made her way towards the door.-
You should not worry about them, Mistress. They are not far. You forget that the young dragon's sanctuary is vast, and that there are many places for the dragons to go.
-the spirit then sighed yet again, slowly moving to become a little closer to where Raine had froze.-
There is something troubling you?

Raine ran a hand through her hair and sighed.
"I'm sorry, Phiel, I just feel restless. I'm concerned for Rorak, even though I know I don't have to be, my memory's hazy at some moments, I have some energy now and don't know what to do with myself...and now I'm rambling. I'm sorry for that too."
She walked over to and opened the door, but remained in the doorway, watching nature go about its business. Raine felt confused; she wasn't sure what she was supposed to be doing. Before, she had been visiting a friend, protecting another friend, and fighting off the dark dragon. Now, things are a bit more calm.
What can I do to keep myself busy? Do some training? Something dealing with the arts? But I still feel like I haven't completely recovered.
"I'm torn in two."
Hm...
-the spirit regarded her in a few moments of silence, watching as she tried to think, or make her mind up as to what to do.
It wasn't long however, before it spoke to her once again.-
You can do as you choose, Mistress; you know that. You are not limited in what you are allowed to do.
-then, very slowly, the ghostly dragon drifted up to her side, looking down to her. if she were to look up to it then, she would see that the spirit looked both confused, but yet concerned about her.-
If it will mean anything to you... I shall accompany you, until Rorak returns?

Raine tore her gaze from outside to look at Phiel. A small smile made its way across her puzzled face.
"Thank you."
She walked through the door as the wind picked up. The grass blades rolled like waves and flower petals waved from their gentle clouds. The sun was partly hidden behind the clouds. Raine took a deep breath as the wind came by again, exhaling her tension. Something similar to pain was on her face, as she felt fine, if confused.
Where do I go from here?
-Phiel nodded in silence, waiting until Raine had turned around before allowing itself to smile, for some reason choosing that it didn't want her to see this.
Then, the spirit glided forwards to come to Raine's side as she stepped out and paused in the open air, beginning to wonder what she was going to do.-
. . .
-The spirit remained silent still; waiting for Raine to speak, or to make her mind up about what it was she was going to do.-
Do not worry, Master Rorak. Your Mistress is safe. I will ensure it is so.

Raine remained where she was for a few more minutes before looking over at Phiel.
I'd better save my musings for later.
"Let's go to the lake."
She said that with a smile, and began walking at a casual pace, but paused after a few steps. She slowly turned to look at Phiel, a blush and an embarrassed smile on her face.
"Phiel...where is the lake? It's been a while..."
The lake?
-At first, the spirit sounded somewhat surprised at Raine's decision on where to go. However, despite being surprised, it wasn't going to stop her from going where she felt she wanted to go.-
The lake is south-west from this building, Mistress... if you wish, I can lead you to it.
-The specter then chose that moment to exit the confines of the kitchen and drifted out into the open air and open sun. The extra brightness of the sunlight turned the already semi-transparent being more transparent, making it more difficult for Raine to see its form and features.-
---
-as Raine decided she wanted to travel to the lake, the white dragon with Rorak stood up, speaking to the young boy then.-
Rorak. I have one more thing to show you - please, come.
...? But... what about... about Raine...?
I assure you, your Mistress is fine. You have nothing to worry about. Now, please... please come with me.
-the dragon persuaded Rorak into following by setting off herself, but stalling after a few steps. It didn't take long for the boy to stand up from the lake's edge and then walk up to her, and with that the dragon began to lead him away to another, hopefully final destination.-

(ooc: ...I completely forgot that Rorak and Celesa were at the lake. xD)
Raine narrowed her eyes at Phiel, but the sun was making it difficult to see. She gave up, satisfied with the fact that Phiel was even there, if barely visible. She smiled.
"Would you mind leading me there? Please?"
(ooc:I'm sorry for the shortness! I'll make up for it with the next post!)
(ooc: ;))
Of course.
-Phiel nodded and then bowed to Raine, although with the brightness of the sunlight, it was somewhat difficult to tell what it was the spirit was doing. Upon completing this bow, it turned and then began to make its way south-west as it had said, stopping after only a matter of seconds to wait for Raine to follow.-

Raine quickly noticed that Phiel had already started walking, and jogged a little to catch up. She then resumed walking at a casual pace, taking in the refreshed look of the Reserve. A cluster of flowers caught her attention; red, orange, yellow, and blue were their colors. She felt deja vu, but couldn't place why.
The wind blew again, balancing the sun's gentle rays. Raine, for a moment, felt at peace despite her earlier internal arguments.
No wonder the dragons feel safe here.
Raine smiled slightly to herself, and glanced over at Phiel.
I wonder why Phiel is here. I'm grateful for the company, but I'm still curious.
-remaining silent, the spirit resumed its slow, drift-like movement across the plains, staying alongside Raine as it led her toward the lake.
Unless Raine was going to spark up conversation again, Phiel was going to remain silent, not knowing what to say to her at that moment. It didn't even make an attempt to look to her to try to begin conversation.-
. . . Hm. . .

Raine frowned a little when she noticed how silent Phiel was, wondering if something was bothering the spirit. She wasn't sure if she was reading too much into the silence, though. Instead, her thoughts turned back to a previous problem.
What should I be doing since Rorak is, hopefully, unlocking his own potential? He won't need someone to protect him forever, but I don't want to sit around and do nothing.
Raine shook her head, still frustrated at the lack of answers she had come up with. Looking up, she saw the lake in the distance and was somewhat relieved, but she then remembered that the specter had not said one word during the walk.
"Phiel, is something on your mind? Or do you like the quiet?"
-When Raine finally spoke up, it was only a matter of a few seconds before Phiel turned to look down to her - its form being much taller in stature than hers - and, after regarding her in a short extra moment of silence, spoke to her.-
No... it is just that... I have never been much of a conversationalist.
-the spirit fell silent again, turning back to face the direction they were going, and at the lake that was then approacing them. If the sunlight had not disturbed its visible form and had not made it so difficult for Raine to see it, she may have seen it looking rather intently at the lake, even scanning the visible area for signs as to whether anyone was there.-

Raine smiled a little.
"I understand."
She turned her attention back to the lake as well, unaware of what Phiel was doing. Many subtle emotions passed through her as the two approached the body of water. Deja vu crept up on her again, and she frowned slightly in concentration as she struggled to find out why she felt that way.
Something about the lake is important, but for some reason I can't remember what or why.
A gentle sigh escaped Raine, and she continued to walk in silence.
-when Raine answered Phiel, the spirit's response was nothing more than a smile that formed over the features of its face for a few seconds. Afterwards, it returned to the previous silence, pondering to itself whilst lacking the initiative or courage to try to continue conversing with her.-
They are not here... does that mean she knew we were coming, and took him ...?
-after some time of silence, the two of them came up to the scattering of trees that stood between them and the edge of the lake itself, and began to make their way through them.-
Is Mistress Raine always this silent? So lost in deep thought...?

Raine continued to muse until they began making their way through the scattered trees to reach the lake's shores. She noticed how silent she had been, and an embarrassed laugh escaped her. It actually sounded sweet, if a little awkward.
"I'm sorry, Phiel. I must not be very good company. I have a lot of things on my mind right now, and that's why I've been brooding."
She gave the spirit an apologetic smile.
"Anywho, can you tell me a little more about yourself? I've been curious since I saw you emerge from seemingly nowhere."
Raine tilted her head as she waited patiently for an answer.
"Is there a special role you're playing?"
The last question seemed...deep. ( xD I don't know how else to describe it)
...Hm...
-Phiel slowly looked to its side, to Raine, after she spoke and asked the questions that she did.-
No. It is quite okay; I can see that there is a lot on your mind.
-after it'd said that, it seemed to fall silent and at the same time turn away from her; in fact, the spirit turned away only slightly, itself coming into thought for a few moments.-
Unfortunately, Mistress... there is nothing remotely interesting about myself... I am just a mere messenger; I came to tell you of Master Rorak and that he will be gone a short while.
-after speaking this, the spirit fell silent again, once more in thought. obviously, what it had said about there being 'nothing remotely interesting' was a simple lie... but it was not likely Raine would think it was; after all, Phiel was sent as a messenger to her.-
...If you wonder.. -it paused for a second.- It is that you seemed lonely and seemed to want the company of another being... whether physical or ethereal in body... which is why I have not left after giving you the message I was tasked with..

Raine merely watched the spirit for a few moments, a worried expression slowly appearing on her face. She then turned her gaze to the ever-closer lake, and mused in silence. It looked like she wouldn't say anything else, but she looked at Phiel again, a tiny smile on her face.
"Thank you, again, for keeping me company. I was starting to feel slightly alone."
I don't believe him when he says that there isn't anything interesting about him, but I won't pester him about it. If I'm meant to know what his true purpose is, I'll find out in due time.
Raine's face now expressed curiosity as a question popped up among her thoughts.
"Phiel, is there a reason why you can't look at me for very long? You turn away a lot, and it makes me think that I come off as cold."
You are quite welcome, Mistress.
-the spirit said this in response to Raine thanking it for accompanying her to the lake. the two of them had come through the trees and were a matter of metres from the lake itself.
With Raine looking to Phiel again, the ghostly creature had returned to looking to her also. Currently, the two of them were under the shade of a tree, and because of this the dragon's features and form were once again visible, compared to the bright sunlight which made it almost invisible to the naked eye.-
I do not mean any disrespect, Mistress; it is not that I dislike looking to you... it is like I said with myself not being much of a conversationalist... I believed staring at oneself in silence would make you feel I was being... rude in some manner.

Raine pondered over what Phiel said for a few moments, watching as the lake seemed to grow a little bigger. She eventually smiled, though it was small.
"I understand, Phiel. I would've probably done the same thing."
Raine suddenly rushed forward and stopped at the edge of the lake. She kneeled down, and watched her reflection on the smooth surface. Her gaze soon left her reflection, and traveled to the mirrored clouds that hung about in the sky.
She remained silent, caught up in the simple beauty.
-Phiel nodded lightly in response to what Raine said, doing so simply as a form of acknowledgement, so that she could be sure that the spirit had heard and understood her.
Then, remaining silent, it watched as Raine rushed to the lake's side and gazed into it. Very slowly, the spirit floated up and then stopped a short distance behind her, continuing to watch her but not getting too close in case she didn't want it to.
The spirit did want to speak at that point, for some reason, but didn't know what to say, or when. Because of that, it remained silent, and waited for Raine to choose when to speak.-

Raine simply watched the water for a few minutes. The calm, gentle undulations evoked a feeling of tranquility within her. She dipped her hands into the cool water, cupped them together, and brought them to her face. It looked like she held a fragile mirror in her hands. She kept her gaze on her reflection as she spoke to the specter.
"Phiel...there's power in this lake. I'm not sure what kind of power exactly, but it's there. Deep and almost unrecognizable."
For a moment, Raine thought she saw a reflection not her own in the tiny puddle in her hands, but brushed it off as an optical illusion. Silence reigned for a few more minutes before she spoke again, slowly separating her hands so that the water fell back into the lake.
"Did you want to talk about something, Phiel?"
Raine glanced over her shoulder, then gestured with a hand for the spirit to come closer. She wasn't sure why the spirit was so far back in the first place.
-Phiel remained silent throughout what Raine said, also remaining where it was whilst doing so. It was only when Raine turned and gestured for the spirit to come closer to her that any sort of life came to the otherwise statue-like posture that it had taken.
The movements were slow, but eventually Phiel approached Raine, exiting the shadows that it was stood beneath before floating to her side, as she seemed to want it to do. Because of the virtually transparent nature of the spirit's form, no reflection whatsoever was cast over the surface of the lake.-
I...
-Phiel began to attempt to speak, but then halted upon finding difficulty in wording anything. After some seconds, it managed to continue,-
I do not know what to say... it is just... there is something about you... something which wills me to converse...
-the spirit sounded a little confused, as well as nervous, but it was definitely speaking to her now. The sun fell behind clouds and the area surrounded them faded with the lack of sunlight, the dragon spirit's form becoming clearer at the same time, yet no reflection appearing on the lake despite this.-

Raine remained quiet as the specter spoke, turning her gaze from him to the lake. Silence reigned for a few moments before she looked at Phiel again.
"Something about me?"
A small frown crossed her lips.
"If you really don't want to talk, you don't have to you know."
Her expression changed back into one of curiosity.
"Do you know what exactly that 'something about me' is?"
Yes... something about you...
-the spirit paused for a moment, the form of its face and specificially its eyes watching Raine.-
....I cannot place it, but there... there is something about you that I feel that I can relate to. It... it is difficult to explain.
-the spirit paused again, watching the expression on Raine's face at that point.-
I feel like you are like me... one of my kind...

Raine's expression was neutral. She studied the specter for a few moments before speaking.
"Really? That's interesting."
A slight smile graced her lips as something stirred inside her. She didn't say anything else, however, and returned her attention to the cool water.
-the ghost merely nodded; the nod was rather light, and purely in response to what she had said.-
I just do not understand why... because you are a creature very different to that of myself...
It is very confusing...
Do... -there was a slight pause, during which the spirit's gaze turned back to the lake before them.- Do you know... why...?

Raine sat down and took off her boots and socks, seemingly ignoring the spirit. She threw her items to a tree farther away from the shore, and stood up, taking a few timid-like steps into the water.
She watched the water for a few moments, the wind playfully blowing discarded leaves around. Raine turned her head to look at Phiel, and said nothing as the corners of her lips turned upward in a slight, somewhat mysterious, smile. She then proceeded to jump forward, and dive underwater.
...?
-The spirit looked nothing short of very confused. It waited patiently for a response, and had began to become worried that it had said something disrespectful, but those feelings changed to the confusion upon the actions Raine promptly took - and especially the strange smile that she gave the specter.-
M-Mistress.... Raine...?
-the spirit drifted to the very edge of the lake, but moved no further, hovering there inches from the surface of the water and watching Raine disappear under the water. it was worried; it didn't know what was going on, or what Raine was doing.-

06-25-2009, 08:56 PM
Raine dove deep underwater, swimming inches from the bottom. She had been caught slightly off-guard by what Phiel had asked, but somehow managed to regain her composure, though she was sure that she had confused the poor spirit.
He he...a strange creature, hm?
She mused over Phiel's words from earlier as she swam in the cool water. Though sunlight could still reach the bottom, it was much darker where she was than at the surface. All she saw was a blur of white when she glanced up, and she wasn't entirely sure if it was the sun or Phiel, though it was most likely the latter.
Another thought popped into her head and she became melancholy for a moment. She had first "retrieved" Shirogane from this very lake, and had given him to Mac as a guardian. The same little dragon that was born from her dragon spirit before it fully developed. Raine thought of asking the specter whether or not he had seen the little guy, but decided against it.
He seems to know more about what Rorak's doing than anything that has to do with Mac.
Raine turned until she was swimming on her back along the floor. She would need to come up for air soon, but she wanted to stay below a little longer.
....what... is she doing...?
-the spirit stared down at the lake, only able to see a darkening that symbolised Raine's presence for a matter of seconds, before she swam too far and too deep for it to see her.
Phiel was now very worried, because it was certain this was strange behaviour for such a being as a pixie - and of Rorak's Mistress. But, it didn't know what to do; it was merely a spirit - it had no physical properties in any way... all it could do was stare at the lake, wondering what had happened; what it had said to Raine to cause such behaviour.-
Did... did I upset the Mistress...?
I knew I should... should have not spoken my mind...
-the distinct look of worry was interwoven with the spirit's transparent face.-

After a while, Raine kicked off and headed to the surface. She popped up a few feet away from where Phiel was floating. She swam over to the worried specter and tilted her head as she tread water. She wasn't sure how to put what she was feeling into words.
I'm glad that he spoke more directly to me, but I'm not sure I want to talk about that now. Phiel seems nice enough, but I don't know too much about him... That part of me only comes up when the need arises, and right now she's resting.
Raine did her best to make sure that her expression was understanding, soft, so that Phiel wouldn't think that she was upset with him for what he asked.
.... ... ....?
-Phiel remained silent and watched as Raine emerged from the lake, slowly and somewhat tentatively retreating from the lake's edge as she came toward it.-
M...Mistress Raine...? Is... is everything okay...?
-the spirit still looked worried from the unexpected behaviour, but sounded confused. It should have been considered a miracle that the spirit managed to speak at all.-

Raine smiled and nodded.
"Yes, everything's fine."
She put a finger to her lips in a shushing gesture, but continued to speak.
"Let's not talk about that right now, okay?"
Raine closed her eyes and smiled before moving her finger away from her lips. She opened her eyes again and simply tread water, waiting to see what Phiel would say.
Hmm...I wonder how Rorak is doing...
..Ar-...?
-the spirit had very cautiously began to question Raine, but the motion she made of her finger rising to her lips halted it in its tracks and instead, the spirit watched her with a very mixed expression.
After when Raine lowered her finger, the spirit appeared for a few seconds to have frozen, but eventually it spoke, although somewhat slowly and also very unsurely.-
As-as you wish, Mistress...
-Phiel was now very confused, but as Raine had requested nothing more to be said on the subject, it had no choice but to accept what she wanted and kept what thoughts it now had to itself.-
...Why...?

Raine frowned slightly at the word "Mistress". She had tolerated it enough, but felt that the term was unnecessarily formal.
"Hey, Phiel. You know that you don't have to call me Mistress, right? I'm fine with you just saying Raine. It is my name, after all."
Her smile seemed a bit friendlier now. Raine knew that the spirit still had questions on its mind, and that it was terribly confused. The thing is, jumping into the lake was simply a respite and a way to keep from having to answer the specter right away.
"Listen, even if we aren't discussing that, you can still talk to me."
...I...?
-the spirit didn't know what to say at first; in attempting to speak, all it managed was an incoherent jumble.
After some attempts of speaking, the spirit fell silent completely, its eyes closing as its form motioned in an action of taking a breath, after which the spirit spoke.-
It is a part of my code that I must refer to you as Mistress... I do not understand why do you not wish to be referred in such a manner...?
-Upon the last words that Raine spoke, the spirit did nothing more than blink, not understanding at all what she meant by 'that'. What she had said about disliking being called 'Mistress' had surprised Phiel a great deal; enough that it chose not to comment on the last thing she said for the time being.-

Raine could clearly see the confusion in the specter's facial expression, and quietly sighed.
"Phiel, don't worry about it. It just seems formal, is all. But if you insist, I don't mind."
With that, she dove back under the water, though she stayed closer to the surface this time.
Did he already forget that I was talking about when he said that I felt like one of his kind?
Raine glanced at the spirit from underwater before dashing away towards the other side of the lake.
Maybe I'm the one who should keep her mouth shut for a while. I seem to be making things awkward.
Well... If... if it is truly a bother...?
-Phiel trailed off and fell silent as Raine decided to turn and return to the lake. The spirit was only being honest in what it had said; it was what it had been told to do. After all, it -was- just a messenger...-
I cannot help but tell she is hiding something... her actions are... confusing... surely a being such as herself would have given warning to me before diving into this lake...?
-slowly, the spirit traversed back to the water's edge, but went no further. presumably, being a spirit, crossing over the surface of a lake or any water body should not pose a problem yet Phiel remained where it was, watching Raine as best as it could from where it was.-
I wonder if Master Rorak knows why Mistress Raine acts like this, or why I feel so strange about her...?

(ooc: .......I forgot where I was going with this. xD)
Raine drifted in the cool water for a while, watching the world through a shimmery mirror. She frowned to herself, feeling color rush to her cheeks in embarrassment.
I need to go apologize. We were doing just fine until I started acting like this. Phiel probably thinks that there is something wrong with me.
Raine shrugged to herself at the last part. With a swift kick of her legs, she quickly swam back to the waiting specter. She reached the shallows, and walked up the warm shore until she was next to Phiel. She chuckled and rubbed the back of her neck before speaking.
"I'm sorry for actin' weird. I've just got a lot of stuff on my mind."
An apologetic smile crossed her lips.
"I hope I didn't freak you out or anything."
(oh :/)
-the spirit continued watching, having nothing else to do right then. after all, it had said it was going to keep Raine company whilst Rorak was gone... so long as Raine wanted the spirit nearby, it would stay.-
No. It is quite okay, Mistress.
-whether or not it was confused about her strange behaviour, Phiel remained polite and bowed very lightly to her as, finally, she returned to where the ghost was positioned.-
I would expect there to be more than a lot on her mind...
Are... you enjoying yourself here? With swimming?
-it sounded like a strange question, but the spirit wanted to try to keep the conversation going. it was that strange feeling the specter felt about her that caused this.-

Raine watched the spirit for a moment, wondering what it could be thinking. A slight coil of unease tightened in her chest as she took in Phiel's expression.
I think I did confuse him or something. Great...
Nonetheless, she smiled and nodded.
"I am, actually. The water feels great, and I'm enjoying the shade of the trees around here. It reminds me of home."
Raine chuckled to herself at the memory.
That's good.
-the spirit attempted a smile then, trying to hide how confused it was from her previous behaviour.-
It is... just a shame that I am a spirit. I would swim with you
-Phiel then looked from Raine to the lake that was behind her, and stayed silent whilst looking from the lake and beyond it, at the distant mountains.-

Raine smiled.
"It's all right, Phiel."
She paused when she noticed that the specter was looking behind her.
"What is it?"
When she didn't get a response, she turned around, facing the mountains. Raine gazed at them in silence, not sure what Phiel was looking at.
Could it have something to do with Rorak?
-Phiel remained silent for a long time, beginning to look like it had zoned out before blinking, and then visibly coming to.-
S-sorry...
-The spirit then looked to her, closing its eyes and then inclining its head in an apologetic gesture.-
I... became lost in thought.
-after saying that, the spirit lifted its head again. for a second though, its eyes seemed to wander back beyond the lake again, but took virtually no time to return to Raine.-
Is there anything else you wish to do? Any other places you wish to visit?

(ooc: I'm sorry for taking so long to reply. I can't always think of what to post here, and I don't want our characters just awkwardly standing around without some kind of direction.)
Raine smiled at the specter, though it was beginning to get hard to see its form, as the sun was coming back out from behind the clouds.
"It's all right, Phiel."
She took a moment to think about what the specter had asked her.
Well, I'm guessing that Rorak is still busy, and neither of us know where Shirogane went. ...I really don't know what I want to do. I'm too worried about what Rorak is up to, and with the other dragons gone...
Raine suppressed a sigh and finally made a decision.
"How about we just walk around the Reserve? Like out toward the open fields? I'd like to see how, if anything, has changed or been restored since the...fight."
She smiled again, and headed off toward the fields, glancing back to see if Phiel was following her.
...of course.
-Phiel simply nodded... almost bowed, in fact... to what Raine told it she wanted to do. when she turned and headed off back towards the reserve, the spirit turned from the lake and began to follow in the silent glide-like manner that spirits did.-
Something is still on her mind.... I wish that she would tell me... maybe I would know how to help...
Maybe I would not, though... but how do I know? I do not even know what troubles her. Is it because Master Rorak has been gone from her side for such time that he has...?

Raine saw Phiel following her, smiled at him, and then returned her attention to the front. She felt the breeze blowing past them, and enjoyed the comfort of it. She walked at a casual pace, taking a look at the scenery before her.
The grass was a brilliant shade of green, and the long, swaying stalks made the fields look like the sea. The flowers that were in bloom showed off an array of colors, though mostly red, orange, lavender, and pink. Raine was surprised that certain flowers even bloomed in the Reserve, but then again, she hadn't had a chance to really take a look around before the Dark dragon appeared.
Pushing aside the melancholy thoughts, Raine began to sing, very softly, as she walked with Phiel. It sounded familiar, as if she had sung it before, but half of her singing was mumbled, so it was hard to tell. As she sang, something suddenly hit her.
"I'm not a pixie anymore."
She paused, surprised that she had said it out loud. She stopped walking and looked into the distance, somewhat relieved by this realization.
If I'm not a pixie...what am I?
-the spirit followed Raine in silence, switching constantly between watching Raine as it followed behind her, and looking either side at the trees, fields and other such natural things that the two of them passed, or were in the distance.-
Maybe I will never quite understand what it is about this young girl that brings Master Rorak to stay besides her... maybe it is that in itself... that unknown... maybe it's things he doesn't know that keeps him.
-Phiel inhaled and then exhaled in a silent sigh, but its attention became quickly diverted when Raine suddenly halted, forcing him to halt also in surprise.-
...?
-for a few seconds, the spirit remained silent and regarded Raine in that silence. however, before long, that part of Raine that compelled the spirit to converse... to possibly try to get closer to her... became strong enough to cause it to speak.-
You... are not a pixie?
-the spirit then fell silent, returning to simply regarding her whilst looking confused, yet thinking about what she had just said; trying to make sense of it.-
What does she mean 'I am not a pixie anymore'? if she is not... then what is she?

Raine seemed startled when she heard Phiel speak, and turned around to face him. As she did so, something else caught her attention: her wings.
"No. I'm not sure how I know but..."
She trailed off, not sure how to explain it.
"I don't know what I am but..."
Raine turned again, but looked at the specter from over her shoulder.
"Take a look at my wings."
She moved her hair so Phiel could see better. The large, translucent pixie wings were gone, replaced by faerie-like wings with the slightest blue tint. Each wing extended 1'4" from her back.
What have I become?
-the spirit blinked several times whilst Raine turned, and pointed out her wings to it. upon being directed to look at her wings, Phiel did so but only after a short amount of hesitation.
The ghost itself hadn't taken note of her wings nor hadn't seen any reason to, especially since it hadn't met Raine until this day, and hadn't seen what her 'old' wings looked like.-
I do not understand...?
-Indeed, Phiel did not understand; having not met Raine before, it had merely assumed that pixie wings looked as what Raine possessed. but now that Raine had pointed it out, the spirit was confused.-
Those... are not pixie wings?

Raine turned to face Phiel again, her expression apologetic.
"No. Pixie wings are in better proportion to the body than the wings I have now. In fact, I doubt I can really fly now; glide maybe, but it's not the same."
She sighed and glanced at the specter. Maybe talking about a few of the things that were haunting her thoughts would help ease her tension, but Raine wasn't sure whether or not she could confide in the spirit.
I.... see.
-the spirit didn't know what exactly to say back to her, having very little (if any) knowledge on pixies.-
Well... I am sure there must be a reason behind this change?
-still, Phiel was unsure on what to say, but it seemed that what it did say was the best possible. maybe there was a reason that her wings had seemingly changed...?-

Raine watched the spirit as it spoke, still deciding on the confiding issue.
"I think there is a reason. I'm just not sure what it is. All I know is..."
She trailed off, frowning to herself.
"...Actually, it's okay, Phiel. I don't want to bother you."
Raine then turned around and began walking to the fields again, albeit at a slower-than-usual pace.
-the spirit could only blink, and remained silent as Raine then continued on. after some moments of remaining stationary, the spirit shifted forwards in order to catch her up, and upon coming back to her side looked down to her and spoke quietly.-
I mean no disrespect, Mistress... but now that I know they are not pixie wings that you possess, I am curious to know what they are.
-what Phiel meant was that by Raine not telling it what she thought had happened, it was bothering the spectre anyway.-
Telling me what you think will not bother me, Mistress... it may be that I might understand.

Raine stopped walking and looked up at the spirit.
"Maybe you're right."
She looked down at her feet to gather her thoughts, and then lifted returned her attention to Phiel.
"I just think that this 'transformation' might be part of...my purpose. I feel like I have a specific purpose, and this change is helping me."
Raine frowned to herself.
"I'm sorry if it doesn't sound very clear. I'm still confused."
She glanced back at her wings.
-the spirit halted as Raine did, its form turning to face her rather than just have its head turned to her.-
A... purpose?
-the spirit initially sounded confused; it probably wasn't the greatest response to give her. however, after falling silent and thinking itself, the spirit sounded less confued and more inquisitive.-
What purpose do you think that could be? What purpose would transform you in such a way?

Raine pondered over what Phiel had asked her.
"You know, my instincts are leaning toward...protection. Like how I fought to keep Rorak safe from the dark dragon."
Raine paused to gather her thoughts again.
"The protection thing goes beyond Rorak, like there's something or someone else out there for me to watch over."
She gingerly rubbed her temples.
"I'm just not sure what, exactly."
I see...
-Phiel fell silent, once again in thought. after some moments of silence it turned from Raine and looked out over the fields and the trees that surrounded them.-
Could it be this place? This sanctuary for my kind, that has transformed you so? Is that possible?
-The ghost then looked back to her, wondering on that whilst waiting for her to respond.-

Raine thought hard about what the spirit had said.
"It's a possibility, but I don't think that's it."
She looked up at Phiel again.
"I think that....."
Raine trailed off and sighed.
"It'll be complicated if I just randomly say what I think. So maybe I should start from the beginning?"
She wanted to make sure that the specter would be willing to listen before she launched into her theory.
-the spirit's head tilted a little to her words, looking somewhat surprised that she began, but then paused as she did.
However, the ghost wasn't going to be rude to her, and as she questioned it, the spirit responded with a small bow.-
Of course. If you feel that is best, I will listen.
-there was nothing more that needed to be said.-

Raine nodded at the specter before beginning.
"Before all of this happened, I had started feeling restless. Completing my previous duties wasn't satisfying anymore; I was an ambassador, by the way. It felt like there was something more...real than the paperwork and 'negotiations' that I thought I loved."
She paused here, to let Phiel digest what she had said, and to gather her thoughts.
"Basically, I think that I was already changing internally, and that the aftermath of the battle was simply an opportunity for my external body to catch up with the internal changes. After all, I needed to recover from the energy that I spent fighting. Like I said, I guess my body decided to use the situation as a chance to be 'reborn', or something like that.
That's why I don't think that it's necessarily the Reserve that's caused me to change. I think I look the way I do because it suits my purpose better. Whatever I am now has a more serious nature than a pixie, so I'm guessing that my purpose is somewhat important. If I could just figure out what kind of wings I have..."
After saying that, Raine glanced back at said wings.
"They're too small to use for flying, though gliding wouldn't be a problem..."
She continued to mumble to herself about what type of wings she had, allowing Phiel the opportunity to think over what she had said.
I see...
-The ghostly being didn't speak whilst Raine explained her view of what could have possibly happened. Knowing nothing about her other than her connection to Rorak, the spirit didn't know what to say to her, even for some seconds after she had explained the possible change.
There was, however, a stronge sense of thought on the spirit's face It had listened to what she said and had taken it in, rather than just appearing to do so like those who sincerely couldn't care about such things would.-
What... do you feel that these wings are? What do you feel they could be?
-The spirit truthfully knew very little about pixies, so it had no way of determining what it was that Raine had become. It did, however, want to help find out, which was why the question was asked.-

Raine waited for a moment before answering the spirit's question.
"I like they're faerie-like...but something about them is off."
She frowned a little in concentration as she thought about her overall appearance. Her face lit up when it hit suddenly hit her.
"Elven-faerie!"
Raine was referring to both what type of wings she had, and what she had become.
I think this better suits me,too, not just my purpose....whatever it may be.
I...
-the spirit had began to speak when Raine surprised it with her exclamation. it then fell silent, for some moments simply looking to her because of what she had said.-
An... Elven-faerie?
-the spirit couldn't recall ever hearing of such a being, and so sounded confused but also intrigued. The ghostly form came a little closer to her, as if examining her and not seeing the need to hide that fact.-
That... is what you have become?

Raine saw the specter approach her, and nodded.
"I think that explains the wings and pointed ears."
She glanced at Phiel again, slightly perturbed by his examination.
"...Is something wrong?"
Maybe he's uncomfortable or something.
Raine decided that Phiel's curiosity wasn't doing her any harm, and let it go. She looked toward the mountains in the distance, anxiousness on her face.
"Nevermind what I just said. I wonder if my abilities have changed any?"
She looked at her hands, as if they could tell her what her powers were.
-Phiel continued to look at her, obviously rather intrigued by what it could be that had apparently transformed her so. It was also the fact that she seemed to hold something it could relate to - some sort of familiar energy or aura - that gave the being the confidence to look as it did.-
You do not know what your powers are, Mistress...? They have... changed?
-The spirit then looked up to her face, seeming to discard looking at her appearance. then, a few seconds later, it turned and looked across to where she was looking, although not knowing why, if there was a reason.-
Is there a way to test? To find out?
Rain_Pixie
08-23-2009, 02:25 AM
Raine had moved her gaze from her hands back into the distance, listening to the specter as it spoke.
"I'm not sure if they really changed or not, but I'd like to find out. Do you think there's a training area where I would be able to.....test out this new form?"
The words seemed strange coming out of her mouth. The word 'training' had also got her thinking about Rorak again.
Is he still....learning about himself? Is he ever coming back?
She repressed a sigh. First the original Mac, then Shirogane, and now perhaps Rorak were gone. Raine wondered if it was fate.
Is this not as much your sanctuary as it is the Master's?
-the way the spirit worded that was to suggest that she should know if there was a place she could train. also, the spirit didn't know, but didn't want to be so obvious.-
I am sure you know a place you can go.
-the ghost then looked from the distance to Raine, looking down over her for some time before looking back to the distance.-
How long will you be, Master Rorak? The Mistress has grown worried...

Raine listened to the specter and nodded her head.
"You do have a point."
She tore her gaze away from the distance, and looked up at the dragon spirit.
"Unfortunately, I don't really know where anything except the kitchen is. I guess we'll have to look around or maybe find someone who knows something."
Raine managed a small smile before walking away at a casual pace.
What could this mean?
-the spirit stayed put and for a few seconds simply watched Raine as she began to walk. but then, expectedly, the ghost drifted after her, catching her fairly quickly and then slowing to her pace.-
Do you enjoy walking?
-it was another bizarre-sounding question, but the spirit was curious as to why Raine seemed to like walking around. it had expected Raine to just start training at the lake's edge, but yet she seemed more determined to walk to a more suitable location.-
Rain_Pixie
09-17-2009, 02:43 AM
Raine continued to walk as she pondered the spirit's question, and then chuckled before answering.
"I guess I do. When I'm able to walk at a comfortable pace, it's relaxing and makes me smile."
She grinned for emphasis before continuing.
"You're able to tune into the world when you walk like this, too. You notice tiny birds flying around and chirping when they get excited, you notice how warm and sustaining the earth is, you notice how freely the wind blows around you."
A slight blush colored her cheeks as Raine rubbed the back of her neck in embarrassment.
"It probably sounds childish, especially since I'm only pointing out positive things. You can also notice how the earth is hurting."
The hand that was rubbing her neck fell back down to her side, and her lips formed a small sad smile. What she had just said reminded her of the state the Reserve was in while she had fought the dragon, though she remembered bits and pieces of it. She shook her head, and her smile became less melancholy.
"Anywho, that's why I like walking. Is there anything in particular you like to do, Phiel?"
Raine politely waited for the spirit to answer as she walked.
Oh. I see.
-The spirit stayed mostly silent whilst Raine explained how she enjoyed walking, only speaking to utter small sounds of acknowledgement rather than trying to interrupt her.
When she asked the spirit what it liked to do, its forwards motion slowed slightly as if a little surprised by the question being turned back to it.-
...uhm...
-the spirit seemed hesitant to answer, but it was merely thinking. it hadn't expected Raine to ponder such a question, even if it should've been obvious the spirit's question would have been asked in return.-
Well... I... I guess I like to explore.
-the spirit looked to the side away from Raine, but then looked back to her.-
I do not know why. I suppose I am just curious... but, exploring new places interests me...

11-02-2009, 08:38 PM
Raine listened intently as the spirit explained one of its favorite things to do. Her smile grew a little once the apparition had finished.
"Really? Is there a particular area you like to explore? What's the most interesting place you've explored? Do you go alone, or with others?"
These questions and more came tumbling out of Raine, as she was genuinely interested in the places that Phiel may have explored or has been wanting to explore. After a while, she stopped and laughed at herself.
"I'm sorry for the interrogation. It's just that I tend to travel a lot, so exploring is something akin to second nature for me."
Raine continued walking, politely giving the ghost an opportunity to speak. She fiddled with the hem of her kirtle as she walked.
I...
-the spirit began to try to speak, only to fail on the attempt, and partially because all the questions Raine asked overwhelmed it.
upon being 'fired' at like this, the spirit stopped moving forwards entirely, and then hovered above the one patch of grass.-
It is... difficult to explain...
-the spirit then looked away from her. Initially, the being simply looked forwards, but then its gaze seemed to drift upwards to the sky instead.-
I have visited a lot of different places... it would be difficult for me to answer your questions because all places are unique and... many of the places I have been have had a part to them that stands out, or is difficult to describe.
-Raine was likely not going to get a straight answer, but the ghost was being honest with what it said.-

11-20-2009, 08:12 PM
Raine stopped walking when Phiel did, and listened to the cryptic answer. She tilted her head as she pondered over the dodging words, and then decided that she was satisfied with such an answer.
"I understand."
She smiled and looked up at the sky. The sun had moved across the sky as the day wore on, and late afternoon was slowly turning to evening. When that realization hit her, Raine returned her attention to the apparition.
"Phiel? It's been a long while now...what do you think Rorak is up to? I know that what's happening is important but...I can't help worrying."
Raine glanced at the distant mountains and back to the spirit. She wasn't as up for training as she had been a while ago, but she didn't want to sit still and do nothing.
...?
-For a few moments, the spirit looked a little surprised by Raine's question. It had been staring up at the sky, but at that point decided to look back to her. With the day turning to evening, the change in the sun's colour was momentarily making it a little more difficult for the spirit to be seen.-
I cannot tell you because even I do not know. I was only sent as a messenger.
-The spirit sounded honest - unsure, even, about what Rorak was doing. It didn't know what he was doing - technically... it shouldn't have even been with Raine at that precise moment.-
I am sure he is safe, but that is all I can assure you of...

"All right, as long as he's safe."
Raine smiled at the spirit, albeit it was a small one. She then proceeded to sit down right where she was, in the middle of the field. Her gaze went to the sky again, and she seemed to become lost in thought, the wind ruffling her hair and passing through the spirit next to her.
She unconsciously began stroking a cluster of tiny flowers at her side, as if to comfort herself. Raine stayed like that, almost as if she were meditating. The only movement besides her stroking of the flowers was her gaze moving across the sky, toward the mountains. Her gaze seemed calm, with a small undertone of what could have been interpreted as loneliness, though it was difficult to be exact.
