For this one,
my teacher told us to write a poem showing trust.
My friend Joey and I had a hard time with it.
So I threw something together at the last minute.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

A man in a brand-new navy blue suit,
shaking hands with another man
much taller than he,
has a brilliant gold pin
labeled 'Trustee."
One who is loyal,
like the neighbors Golden Retriever.
One who is honest,
like the falsely accused innocents.
One who is faithful,
like the little old nun dressed head to toe
with her hands clasping a wooden imitation
of her God.
A man with the gold pin dressing his chest,
with a genuine smile,
where nothing dark could ever
out do the trusting light.

Given the topic, I can't really find that the chasm between subject and accomplishment was ahchieved. To talk about a thing is not to accomplish that thing. As your prefacing remarks indicated, you had a hard time with it.

It is a difficult subject to deal with. As are any with emotional content. You made me recognize the direction you were going with this piece, but there is a missing ingredient. I will leave that for you to discover.

Before I start to sound like a boring, English teacher.
